| yes this is a good topic to discuss.
i feel like we should all share our ideas on how to properly clean our fingerboard bearing wheels - and if lubricating the bearings is or is not nessary - when and how to do it.
what do you do when your fingerboard wheels pick up alot of dirt ? me personaly - i take a clean sheet of paper on a smooth flat surface - and powerslide the deck around in smooth circles with not alot of downward pressure on it. to allow the paper to act as a micro sand paper to get off all the dirt particles stuck to the wheels. i go both directions. clockwise and counter clockwise.
and if you feel like your wheels are just so dirty - can you use a chemical to clean them ? like rubbing alcohoal ? or de natured alcohoal ? they both evaporate dry and leave no resedue - but will they harm the wheels and or make them hard and brittle ?
lubricating your bearings - me personaly - i use speed cream from bones designed for real skateboard bearings. i have a bottle. and i put a drop of it on a piece of plastic - and dip in a tooth pick and allow the lubrication to drip down in to the bearing of a wheel - and then spin it a bunch - and wipe off the exess over and over as i ride the lubrication in to the bearings. it works for me - and i have seen an improvment in some bearing wheels that are sticky or slow or "gritty" feeling as they roll. but ive not done this to all my wheels. just the ones that i deem "slow" or not as good rolling as i think they should be.
letts chat about this. tell me how you do yours. share your ideas so we can have a better knoledge as a group together here on how to properly maintain our expensive fingerboard wheels |

| There is no proper way to lube your wheels. There isn't a way to take the cap off the bearing, so you can't properly get lube into the bearings. i.e. DON'T DO IT
When my wheels get a little grubbed up with crap, I just take all four wheels (still on the deck and trucks) and put it on a piece of white paper, and move the setup in a circular motion, making a screeeetchy noise.
What this does is rotates the wheels while at the same time rubbing the dirt and stuff off the wheels.
Best thing to do imo. |

| Yea I also do what Gunner said. Works like a charm. And sometimes I take all 4 wheels off, and stick them in a cap full of acetone or hydrogen peroxide. Not sure if it's good for the wheels...but it cleans them hahahaha. |

| The only areas any of my wheels have ever needed cleaning is the backs and the front hole.
(just like the ladies)
I just rub it off with my finger, and inside the hole i use my peni... i mean a tool. |

| I just rub and scratch dirt off with my finger if it's the outside of the wheel. I don't bother messing with the inside. |
