Okay, so I'd like to start a discussion on what your personal thoughts are on these people, I'm sure many will disagree.
Personally I'm really against patriots because they can be so stubborn and ignorant, I'm not proud to be english particularly, I mean, we've fucked up a lot. Also I hate these people who that always when people get injured in war "he was fighting for our country" he wasn't he was just in a war which was started by the Americans in their quest for oil.

As with religion, when you have a moderate 'believer' (so to speak) you get extremists too. The latter are a problem, i will admit, but it's not bad to love your country if you do it in moderation, it's when it blurs your moral compass that it becomes a problem.

You may not agree with the war we are fighting but you do have to congratulate our fighters, and when they die it is a sorry loss. He was fighting for our country and it's respectful to accept his efforts, considering we are at war now so we need to fight our corner.

I totally agree with that, I just don't get these people who keep their Jubilee banners up until like Christmas. There are about 5 people who's houses have there banners and flags up on my 3 minute walk to school it's silly.

As for the war, I do appreciate their efforts, but I don't exactly agree in what they're fighting for, obviously it's a massive loss when people die in war.

Well I agree with most of what you said Finn. What I don't agree with is the fighting for our country one. I personally am very greatful that there are people out there willing to go to war for my country because I for one couldn't do it. So I have a great deal of respect for anyone that's been in the service.

Fixed, especially for you Ryan happy

I hate overly patriotic people, who constantly run around flying flags etc. But I have sooo much respect for those who fight in the war.

I agree with basically all that's been said here, but more siding with finn in terms of war. we are a TINY country with a heinously huge military and spend far too much pumping money into that, funding wars, and trying to get young people in the army. A few years ago (I don't know the current figure) we were spending 70 billion pounds a year on our military, and had the third largest military on the globe.

It sucks that people die in war, but I think a fair amount of it could be avoided if we didn't spend such an unneccessarily huge amount pushing people into wars that probably wouldn't be there in some respect if there wasn't a war for oil going on, and that being backed for the sake of political bollocks.Like, there are sooooooo many other countries in europe who are only putting in a tiny bit to war, why do we have to put soo much? It should be more even.

BTW, I am tired, this may not all make sense. happy

I mean my dads military snd he's pretty highup and we do support america even when there is something stupid were fighting about we still support our country so i guess i am a patriot. Now everyone has an ignorant bone in there body and i think there are people where i live (which has some country people cause i live in the south) who have never seen or met anyone in the military and act rude and ignorant as hell when it comes to america dealing with other countries. Do i think i am a patriot, yes, do i support war and everything my goverment does, no, but not everyone in the states is that way. This goes for any country race or religion that it takes a few ignorant fucks to give us a bad reputation.
