im a fan of birds eye maple too also as regards to pop....i dunno if different woods will make much difference really? i think thickness of the woods would probably effect the pop more?.....like thin decks like g12s have a bit of flex, and thicker boards like a bw09 are more solid, they both have great pop, but i think its quite difficult to tell with something like a fb.....also kick heights may make a board seem to have more pop, when in fact, its just higher kicks.... unless its something made by a kid with crappy glue so the deck is soggy anyway

Well throughout my 3 years of deck making, id say that exotic woods dont affect the pop but exotic veneer does add more pop than domestic veneer. I am making decks with exotic bottem plies with graphics. On topic I have lots of birdseye maple, zebrawood, curly maple, tiger maple all of these have best pop for exotics and will increase it better than domestics. Glue also plays a big role in the decks.

Yeah, wood is a key element, but you have to be pressing with a ton or so, then the glue. Wood glue is ok, but expirement with others IMO.
