| I think it should be allowed.
Although marriage is a religious institution, I'm assuming most straight couples that marry aren't practicing Christians and see it more as a symbolic meaning, rather than its religious meaning. Im also assuming this is why gay people want to marry.
To add too Mikkel's point, I don't understand why a gay couple would even want to get married, unless its purely for rebellion or attention.
I don't really agree with marriage anyway, if you trust and love someone, what difference does a ceremony where you exchange rings make? |

| i dont even think it should be a question. Homosexuality is not a weird thing. There are so many cases of homosexuality in animals that its obviously just a difference in people.
Some people prefer coke. Some people pepsi. Neither of us are wrong. Just differnet opinions/ views on things.

| You can't really discuss marriage without mentioning God; marriage is an institution created by God. However, the topic that's big in the UK isn't so much gay marriage, although that is still a massive point of debate. It's more whether churches will be forced to conduct ceremonies for gay couples, despite it being against their religious beliefs. That is something i disagree with strongly, not just because I'm a Christian, but also because I believe that you should have a choice in whether you condone certain things; a priest/pastor marrying a gay couple despite it being against their beliefs is wrong.
As for the tax breaks; people in civil partnerships get the same tax breaks as us married folk do. The only difference between CPs and marriages is the wording; I'm less bothered about it now because marriage is already a sham to most people. Hence non-religious ceremonies. Hence the obnoxiously high divorce rate. The vows we make seem to mean less and less to most people.
But this is just me ranting now. |

| This is what I think on the topic:
Priest's beliefs are homophobic. That's discrimination, and just because "it's what they believe" means that people don't see it that way as there is an oversensitive stigma surrounding "respect" for religious beliefs (I digress).
Fair enough not letting them do it in a church (still homophobia, and a breach of the 'all-inclusive' message given off by most religions), but at least let them have the right to call their partnership marriage. They are no offence to you? when did they attack, harm or even speak to you? and yet just because some old books say it's bad, people have the right to discriminate. All they do is love someone, it's not like they blatantly sodomise in the streets. They do it in private where it affects no one but themselves, so why don't we just leave them be, and give them equal rights. |
