Ok hey guys, Im really stuck about what camera I want. Im getting one fro christmas and dont really want to go over the pirce range of $1250. With $1250 I want to buy a DSLR camera with kit lens, case, maybe wide angle lens and some accesories. Some cameras that I've been looking at are the Canon 650D/T4i, Canon 600D/T3i and the Canon 60D. If you know anyother good cameras in my pirce range please tell me !I also want to download Magic Latern.
I will be mainly using the camera for shooting videos for skateboarding and fingerboarding, taking pictures of skateboarding and taking the scenic holiday pictures.
I want the camera to have good camera quality and pretty good auto-focusing, but I also want it to be able to film fast action video and take fast action pictures. I dont want the video quallity to be fuzziy when filming skateboarding/snowboarding/skiing. I also want the camera to have an audio system were you dont here every single fuckking whisper ever. If there is like a way to get rid of like the sound of the wind while keeping the sound of skateboarding.
I would really like it if you guys could post below what camera I should get because I know that there are some major camera nerds ! (I mean that in a good way )
Also if this was ment to go in the ' off topics' of the ' video, pictures and media' thread then I apoligise.

I'm using a Canon EOS 550D I think Kerry too and it's a really good camera and I think it's a bit cheaper than the 600D. But the 600D has a flip screen which is really good for filming fingerboarding. I would get a 550D or a 600D

I got a 500D just because it's so much cheaper now, still does 1080p recording and 15 megapixel pic's, plus it would leave you enough money to put towards a Samyang 8mm fisheye and an x grip, both of which are really handy for filming skateboarding and fingerboarding

Yea 500D's are very good for the price but I think they haven't got manual video settings? My friend has one and he can't change the shutter speed and such.

I know what you mean but Magic Lantern is a firmware update you can boot from your SD card, it turns the 500D into a beast
I'm just getting to grips with it now, so many extra settings.
There is also a way to change the aperture to custom without a firmware hack, there's a tutorial on the web, it's pretty simple.
Canon basically turn off a lot of functions and hide them instead of making loads of different internal bits for their cameras. Old DVD players were the same, you could just type in a code and unlock all of the features.

From what I know are canon cameras better for filming than Nikons and yea the 60D has a flip screen but it's so much more expensive than the 600D

The 60D with an 18-55mm kit lens is $880. The 600D with and 18-55 mm kit lens is about $650-700. damn its a hard decsion. On youtube, all the raw clips of the 60D look waaaaaay better.

Get a VX2000, they're a lot cheaper than your budget and I love the footage that they produce, even though it's not HD and not widescreen. In my opinion, I prefer watching footage from a VX than a HD camera, I just feel like the footage is raw'er (if that's a word). Also, if you skate, then they're like the most known skate camera in the world, and are insane for filming skate footage due to the handle.
DAYUM nice edit, I looove vx2000's still wont one myself but they are pricey and can you still buy em? (i think dslr would be better for fb and vx better for sb )
if you can see the difference between 60d and 600d raw clips i should give you a reward because the inside is the same as the 600d and the 550d only real difference between a 60d and a 600d is that the 60d its burst mode is a bit faster this video helped me alot https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=na7h-K0DK60

Id save more and get a Nikon d600 and a 50mm 1.8/1.4, The dynamic range is insane. You would be defiantly be getting 'bang for your buck' with that setup.
Otherwise 550d's are nice, thats what ive got. Does me well.

there's also other things to consider. think about the aperture wheel on the 60. i would pay $100 extra just to have that thing on the 650
