PostSubject: Keep Your Palm Or Thumb From Hitting The Table?? HELP!   Keep Your Palm Or Thumb From Hitting The Table?? HELP! EmptyMon Oct 22, 2012 9:43 pm

Hell everyone, I am having serious troubles fingerboarding. It has been around 7 months from when I started. Some days I am amazing and I land all my kickflips and everything, but usually I am horrible. My palm or thumb hits the table and the pop just isn't right. I know how to kickflip perfectly, but my dang fingers will not just do it? If that makes sense... When I try to kickflip my pointer is not totally centered(a little above the exact center) and my middle is sometimes curled and sometimes flat on the end of the board. I am using a Yellowood if that helps?? When I do land kickflips they always turn or do something bad. SOMEONE HELP!! SEND ME VIDEOS OR SOMETHING!!

I think you're just going to have to resort to trial and error. Try different finger positions and be receptive to "bio-feedback". In other words, pay attention to how your fingers feel when you do a good ollie or kick-flip or whatever and then try to copy that feeling next time. Also, try practising standing up, with your fingerboard further onto the table, so you hand isn't hanging over the edge of the table. That might help stop your hand hitting the table.

I know what you mean, i get this but just with kickflips.
You need to train yourself to relax while doing tricks and experiment with finger placements really.
Only other thing i can think of is the deck you're using might not be to your preference.

if you practice 1 trick like 100 times in a row, its not gonna help u learn it. especially if u dont land it a ton, bcus practice makes perminant. What i learned, in order to get better at fingebrboarding faster (i kno it sounds corny) but u gotta like practice a ton of different stuff at the same time, but make sure ur in the zone (at ur A game) put oon some music that goes hard and fingerboard ur ass off
