| An affiliate means if you sell fingerboards, make them or have a new company and that, I sell em on my site so you're likely to sell more. |

| I wouldn't try and be in competition with them. Just the more places you advertise the more likely you are to sell.
My sites a lot more commercial. Mums buying for their sons for Christmas and that, that don't have much of a clue, but is trusted with Amazon which they like. A lot of my traffic is American and Canadian to. I'd like to make it a bit more hip. |

| Ok.. First off, i am a massive dickhead so if you might get offended by my post. That isn't necessarily my intention.
You come on here. Total new person, not known by anyone. And show us some links filled with advertisements. These links are probably the most messy websites i've ever seen.. I don't know what it is i'm looking at. Still not sure what your goal is actualy?
Then i can understand you want to resell fingerboard products made by people on here? I'm asuming that would include you wanting them to sell bulk to you cheaper so you can take a profit, which is fair. But... how the fuck can anyone trust you?
Your approach is very similar to what i will classify as "the unwanted companies" (china + other dirtbags).

You got it in a nutshell, well nearly.
There's no reason that I have to be trusted. I don't get / buy / see the stock.
I'm just a middle man. A small company puts an ad or the thing they are selling on my site. My visitor see's it, wants to buy it, clicks on the link and orders it from their site.
I get a small commission and some good looking photos on my page. Yeah it is a free site, but they ain't gonna get many mums coming on here to buy.
Just a way of advertising for free. If they don't make a sale they haven't lost anything. |

Kerry shares much more than products, and you wont find unite by searching "fingerbaording products" on google. I'm actually kind of for this... I mean, its free advertising, it helps spread fingerboarding, and small companies have the chance to get bigger. I like it. |

| Jay it's not that he's trying to do something similar to Kerry. I'm wondering how he's making a comission if he's using a free website. For me it sounded like you had to pay to get featured. Hence the bolded sentence when I quoted him and why I compared him to Unite. I'm confused that's all. |

| Jay W is right.
Yes the site is free, Yes it's full of Ads, no, no fingerboarders would go to this site and say 'fuck me, this is cool'
But, how are the small fingerboarding companies ever gonna get recognition? They do want to sell stuff right? Now we'd all love for stuff to be kept underground and only have places like this to sell. But your average mum, who knows their son is into fingerboarding aint gonna come here to buy, unless she sits here with her son and orders it.
It's cool that Kerry is getting loads of hits, but it's like it's been said, how's the normal shopper who doesn't know about fingerboarding going to find it on google?
Lots of people that go to my page haven't got a clue about fingerboarding. One of these companies might get a lucky break, not from me but from someone seeing the site.
I ain't just some guy in a suite, I was fingerboarding before most of you were born and skated for about 10 years. Saying that it shouldn't make a difference if I was. I knew I'd get a slating for posting here but fuck me, someones got to try and spread the word about these small companies a bit. If not, what's going to happen to them?
and know I'm not charging to advertise there. Like I say, that company makes a sale, I get a very small commission of that sale. I'm surprised you've never heard of this, millions of people sell this way on the internet. |

| people find unite because I also run fingersized, all the sites are linked being in the unitefingerboarding family, and thus people find things that way.
Honestly I think what you're doing is spineless and shitty. I work my ass off to run my own business and live from fingerboarding, and you want to come along, make a FREE site, put in barely any effort, then reep advertising rewards? It's just like all the many blogs out there with recycled content that just exist to live off advertising revenue. Does no one have any fucking morals?
Do what you want, but I'd rather vomit out both my testicles than help shit like this - imo it's half of what's wrong with the internet. Promoting nothingness and making it seem as worthy as those who actually put time and effort into making sites that matter. It's in everything, I'm looking for a new phone and I find tons of sites like this trying to find actual decent reviews, some of them end up ranking higher than places like CNET, who have fantastic reviews.
Money makes the world go round..
BUT, morals aside, like fuck anyone is going to find this free tiny site over finding the BRR webshop, flatface, 4corner, etc, etc. Seems an exercise in futility unless I totally misunderstand this. |

| What you say is fair and I understand your point. But that page isn't for fingerboarders to like. Like I say it's a lot more commercial. Some parents aren't going to want to trawl through pages like this to find out what the kids want. If the kids specifically tell their parents what they want that's cool, but a mum in Spain with no info is just going to find Tech Deck, Flat face etc. That page is a sales page, not a fingerboarding one.
What my idea was, was to try and help these people find good products. You are all the experts here right? you know whats good and what's not. The people that wanted to advertise on my site would have to give reviews which I would then look into, and that would go along with the product on my site.
And as for the same recycled shit on the internet, well wouldn't putting stuff on my page be helping against that?
If no-one can get these smaller companies to advertise anywhere then the internet is just going to be full of the stuff you can find on Amazon.
Why is this shitty and spineless? It's free advertising for these smaller companies. So I'm assuming that you definitely wouldn't want a link from my page to yours coz it's morally incorrect? and because I haven't spent time and money making a page.
Look, I didn't mean to get up anyones nose. I understand you are passionate and work hard. Maybe I'll just have to stick to the big brands.
If everyones feeling negative then the thread should be locked

| I don't think it's all as bad as you make it sound Kerry.
We don't know what your intentions are Peter, that is the main problem. It is very hard for the fingerboard community to trust new people because a lot of people come on here to make a few quick bucks either by selling marked up china shit or homemade stuff they plant to make. I think a program like what you have in mind could be done properly, but it could be shit as well.
The thing is that basically every time a company posts a stock on here and Kerry features it on unite, it sells out in a matter of days.
Most of us are in this for the hobby, and we don't make stocks of 1000 decks.
ANother thing is that i'm not sure your theory about mums not finding our sites work. I have loads of parents shopping on my website. I think that fingerboarding is very brand minded, and i dont think many kids put "fingerboard" on their wishlists.
Kids know what they want so they put the brand there.
That said, it's not like you would harm anyone. As i see it you just refer to a bunch of different websites and every time a sale is made because of you, you get 10% or whatever.
Sorry if my reply got a little messy, i just woke up. |

| I would like to have a mum that knew exactly what setup is my preference and what I like so she could go on the web and find everything in one place and order it to me for xmas! Yes, im beeing ironic. I kinda see the idea here, just dont find it any close to bright, because fingerboarding is more complicated than just mums or whatever going on a site to buy and spend money. I dont see it to become all the craze for community loved small compagnys with respect for themselves signing up for this any time soon. Just my 2c for what its worth.. |
