Hello there!

I'm new here and I don't know where to post this :/ *move this if you have to*


But anyways, i'm trying to make fingerboard ramps ledges etc. I went to HomeDepot today and got some ridged foam for the base and some concrete to put over the foam, I got "SAKRETE concrete" and there's a TON of rocks in it!

So before I spend more money, I have a few qustions:

1. does all concrete have rocks in it?

2. Would cement be better for my purpose?

3. WHAT SHOULD I GET?!

Concrete is cement + aggregate + water. The crushed rocks and sand in concrete add strength, and the cement is the glue holding it all together. I would recommend:

2 parts crushed rocks
2.5 parts sand
1 part Portland cement
0.5 part water

Also, be VERY careful. If you get concrete on your skin wash it off immediately because it can give VERY bad burns. The reaction is exothermic. Also, dry cement powder can inflame the lungs and can cause lung cancer, so do it outdoos and use a respirator or mask. Use within 5-15 minutes of mixing and allow to cure for at leas 24 hours in a cold, preferably damp environment.

Seamus seems to have said it all But just a quick tip from what I do actually know. When looking into concrete just look up reviews. I looked up a review for the concrete you mentioned and someone actually did mention how it was rocky.

morter mix i think its called..close to no rocks works great! close to 5 dollars at home depot
