| People get so quick to laugh at or snub vegetarians but in reality its like those people who would only ride a bike instead of owning a car. It's just a choice that person has made. |

| I get that veganfingers, I guess I should have said I dislike annoying vegetarians. As in the ones that go "Errjjjjjrjrjrj humans aren't meant to eat meat! Animals are people too!" Whereas somebody who eats eat never says "It's unnatural for us to eat plants! Plants are higher thinking life forms too!"
Like I said there's nothing wrong with being a vegetarian. I'm considering going veggie myself for health reasons. But some people just have these baloney excuses that I find ridiculous. |

| I think more like "people are animals too". Not all animals eat meat, but we are the only animal species in the world who have to cook their meat before consuming it. That doesn't seem too natural when you look at it as if you were not human and were looking at all the animal species and comparing eating habits.
But to each his own, really. If anyone has Netflix there are a lot of cool documentaries to watch even if you aren't interested in eating more plants. Check out Foodmatters, Forks Over Knives, Food Inc, Fat Sick & Nearly Dead, and some others like that.

| Well tbh you could say a lot of things we do every day "aren't natural" -Sex for fun -Shitting in a toilet -TALKING -Eating with utensils -Preparing food
I'm not saying you're wrong, because I agree with you to a certain point, but it's kind of apples and oranges here. |

| I find vegetarians trying to convert others as annoying as the other way around. I'm not hassling people enjoying their meat, but then I expect them to respect my choice also without judging if my motivation is profound enough or not. Same goes for booze.

This over a thousand times. I don't like it when vegetarians try to guilt-trip me for eating meat (doesn't ever work btw, it's just really annoying). I expect them to leave me alone and not rub it in my face the same way. |

I'm not saying you're wrong, because I agree with you to a certain point, but it's kind of apples and oranges here. dolphins have sex for fun, as I think do some other animals some animals bury their poop, a toilet is just that idea on a grander scale almost all animals make noises to communicate. we just developed syntax some animals like monkeys and otters use things to get into their food better. rocks, sticks, etc. same goes for the above statement, like bashing open a clam before they eat it. for me vegetarianism is a choice, it's what I do and it's fuck all to do with anyone else so I don't care if you chomp on a steak infront of my face. your choice. just don't tell me I'm 'wrong' or 'missing out' because it's tiring and a bit offensive you feel you have the right to tell me inadvertantly what I choose to do is wrong. I just don't want to kill something else soI can live, seems a bit unfair. but I totally understand if others don't agree |

I'm not saying you're wrong, because I agree with you to a certain point, but it's kind of apples and oranges here. A few subspecies of chimpanzees have sex for pleasure, as do dolphins. I heard recently of one particular group of chimpanzees having been documented inducing abortion using poisonous plants. Most domesticated animals (cats, dogs, rabbits) bury their faeces. They have different motives to us (we think poo is icky, they bury it to hide their tracks from predators). Most corvids and parrots can learn basic syntax with training (google Alex the parrot) and most animals have some form of communication (putty nosed monkeys use two different types of alarm calls to differentiate between aerial predators (pyow) and ground predators (hack). Some species of whales have different dialects and accents depending on where they were born. Eating with utensils is a new development for humanity, but using tools is a feature that most animals have to an extent (birds using rocks to break open eggs, octupi use coconut shells as body defences etc). The reason we started eating meat in the first place is because it's an easier and more nutrient-rich source of food than plants - lions only eat once every couple of days whereas cows spend most of their waking moments eating. The difference between us and lions and cows is that lions and cows aren't dicks to eachother for their dietary choices; we are. The mocking that veggies have received in this thread is proof enough of that. |
