| Welcome to Phancy Fingers. I know, china company. Why do I care? Well, some things about this annoyed the shit out of me, and one thing made me almost spit out my drink laughing. I'll go on.. First, it's just graphic china completes at 30 dorra a set - I guess it's not the WORST prices I've seen on china stuff. What pissed me off is part of their 'philosophy' if you will. Check the about us. "Phancy Fingers is a project and a life lesson started in December 2011 by brothers Skjalg Mongstad (10) and Haakon Mongstad (. Both are passionate skateboarders and avid fingerboard fans. They design graphics in Adobe Photoshop which we laminate onto high quality Canadian maple fingerboards. They learn about budgets, income, expenses, profit, taxes, import and export regulations, geography, logistics, inventory management, sponsorships, customer support, and so much more! It's a fantastic learning experience:) Dad facilitates and mom administers the daily operations."who the fuck uses their own kids as a marketing scheme? BUT, there's a funny lining.. check the contact page. THEY LIVE IN A FUCKING TOWN CALLED SUGAR LAND. SUGAR LAND. And the road is called 'SHADY BEND'. Which somehow exists.. sorry America, but that's fucking ridiculous (says the guy who used to live near a village called 'crapstone', haha.. who names places? O_o) They just put an advert on FFI and I figured I'd share this. EDIT: forgot the link , www.phancyfingers.com if anyone is interested |

EDIT: Does it say that the "owners" are 8 and 10 years old? It's always nice to see parents exploid their kids' hobby. |

| Looks like (dad) Reidar Mongstad is doing all the work to me..lol! I guess this is what happens when 8 -10yrs old kids want to start a "company" and parents take charge to source their first china stock for ridiculos profits.. I wonder why all the names in that family sound so scandinavian? I am shure I have heard that name Mongstad here in Norway or something before.....so weird! (Edit, aaah...Reidar is from Stavanger in Norway! I JUST KNEW IT!!) Im not going to link you lot to their facebooks. You can look it up yourselves if you feel like it and are curious.. This cracked me up! - Phancy Fingers Facebook Page, April 25, 2012 wrote:
An order just came in from the owner of FlatFace Flingerboards... and when the competitor is checking us out we know that we must be doing something right! Who would try to use "competitors" (that they clearly look up to) as marketing. Thats cute..

| To be fair, Bollie does a similar thing... And they never actually do say that they make the decks, just "We apply the graphics to high quality maple blahblah" |

| Actually When Bollie first produced the flat shape decks they were made in Germany. But when the started making the new shape they didn't keep the old producers and went on to China instead. |

Actually that location in Sugar Land is like about an hours drive from my house. I know it sounds funny, but when you grow up hearing it you don't think anything of it. And Sugar Land is apparently a richer place than many other places around Houston. My friend was a manager for a music company in Sugar Land and he said that a lot of the kids there are rich brats with lots of money, but I'm sure that's not everyone. And what is the freaking deal with this China or Vachina crap. Like dude, this China shIt just needs to all be burned to the ground and not be bothered with. I don't get it. There needs to be like a protest against China decks kind of like the protest against Shaq Fu the video game. Just start smashing the China shIt and film it on youtube and eventually everyone will get the message and not buy that ShIt. And I hope everyone on here knows that the only reason I'm posting on this message board is because I missed the 2011 Techdeck Championship Tour when they came to my hometown Houston and I missed it by some freak accident. This whole incident got me back into fingerboarding. Oh yeah, I've been fingerboarding since I was in 7th grade and now I'm like 28. I've been fingerboarding for around 14 years...... No joke....... and I would have owned that fuc*ing Techdeck contest.

| Yo they're nothing wrong with china, it's the motherfuckers who mark it up a shitload and call it handmade and high quality that are the real shitheads in the operation. |

| I think bollie do a lot more than just buy china decks, put on graphics, and resell them.. like, every china deck I've seen has been rather meh in terms of quality, but bollies are shiny, refined, perfect holes every time, and crisp as foook. I guess they refinish them as well.
reason they changed suppliers is because their old one refused to make another shape for them or something. |

| Yeah, I cinda figured this was some kind of "upper class" side project "for the kids" and it smells a bit like parents thinking this is some fun side business project.. At the end this is just another china rebranding machine that does nothing to push the envelope and bring anything close to groundbraking to the table.. If one is willing to cash out a few hundred bucks to china for thousands of sets decks, wheels, trucks, tools, tape and packaging ready to be rebranded and sold as "high quality products" annyone can do this. But rebranding does not make products higher quality! We all know china trucks work just fine, but lack that little extra. We also know that china wheels are a step up from regular techdeck wheels, but only because of the bearings and also lacks that little bit extra. And we know china decks are alright, but one can notice that they arent really made to the same standards as other decks at a reasonable price from more known deckmakers and brands.. The thing is that one can fingerboard with china stuff just fine, just please dont call it high quality. It is an insult to innovative fingerboard products and their makers! |
