My thoughts about the rep system:


1) It divides the forum into good members (+) and bad members (-).

2) It is unclear what the purpose of the rep system is about. A lot of people think it is instead of references in B/S/T. As i have understood it, it is supposed to help people see which members post valuable stuff and know what they are talking about.
The thing is.. I'd never get in a situation where i would look at a post and think "i better check his rep to see if he knows what he is talking about". This forum is too small for that purpose, cause everyone knows everyone.

3) People doesn't use it properly. Simon's rep clearly shows that this shit doesn't work.

4) Let's say that people learned how to use it and we have it for a year. Then a lot of users will have built up a huuuge rep and it will be impossible for new members to get anywhere near that. So in the end it just becomes another post count kinda thing.

5) People rating other people is fucking gay.
