| So from what I understand Mike owns Flatface and hosts the Rendezvous events at that one location.
I have noticed that he has been doing a lot of store sessions, where I guess he just sells stuff, but still has most of the ramps available to skate on.
Where am I going with this? Well I think that eventually Mike will probably open up the very first year round fingerboard skatepark!
At least that's what I see would be the next step in his company or whatever.
And really, there should be some sort of year round fingerboard skatepark to go to just like there exists real skateparks for skateboarding.
You know I've been wanting to go to a Rendezvous event for a long time, but now that I'm thinking about it, what I really want is just to skate all of the parks and have the space and freedom to do so.
I think I'd rather go to one of the store sessions than a Rendezvous event. I want to be able to just skate the parks to my hearts content. I don't want to just be confined to like a 2ft by 2ft square area on a park since everyone else is crowding around it with you.
Honestly if I lived remotely close to the Rendezvous location I would make several parks of my own and bring them there. You can never have too many parks. But I live in like Texas!
So yeah, basically what I'm saying is that after seeing how frequent the Flatface store sessions are now, I'm going to predict that the next big move would be to just open up an actual fingerboard skatepark.

| It couldn't be done with success. Someone would always have to be around to monitor the area, and that takes a lot of time. It also takes a lot of money when you have to rent out that location. Rendezvous would eventually lose its meaning and people wouldn't have as much of a hype for it. It's better the way it is right now. |

| he is renting it for like 2 years so it isnt a rent thing, but that is a ton of work. tons of planning goes into each rvous and it would be impossible to have it everyday. |

You should post more, it seems everytime I see you posting it has to do with flatface, or mike. I like your posts though |

| I can tell you from experience, after having operated the first full time fingerboard store/park in the USA, The PoP Factory, it is NOT easy.
Especially in my area, small town america, and relying on little bastard kids with no respect, with crack head parents. lol
If you can pull in travelers regularly, or even live in an area with a high concentration of what I call "serious" fingerboarders, who know what we know, not just tech decks, it might be feasible.
But the overhead, is very high. I bought a building on my town square. It was only 15 grand, but, I still had a mortgage, insurance with a one million dollar liability rider, along with electric bill, water bill, and property taxes, all of which HAVE to be paid, whether you have a hundred people through the door, or none. My expenses per month, just to operate, were almost 800 dollars per month.
I'm all about legit brick and mortar fingerboard stores/parks, but you have to have a substantial amount of traffic to even get close to breaking even.
Toss in being in a bigger market, real estate will be higher, costs of living/etc. Like my building, I was told by a couple people from california who were investors(parents of fingerboarders) my building would be 1 million dollars plus sitting in their town.
It seems easy, but it's not...it's a LOT of work, a LOT more headaches, and the reward is nill. Not financially, but you typically get 1 asshole for every 1 respectable person in a place like that.
The only reason I kept my doors open as long as I did, was for the travelers who came from out of town. They ALWAYS treated me and PoP with incredible respect. They understood the value of it. The local kids, just called each other fags and the n word, stole shit, and cried like freaking babies when I didn't give something away every day I was open. They always brought in their 3 dollar wal mart tech decks, and never could get them motivated to take it more serious. |

| ^I really liked your post.
I think I have an idea that might actually make a fingerboarding "store" work.
It would have to be like a traveling store.
You would have to bring your skateparks and travel to different cities an order to get to a wider range of fingerboarders.

| The whole fact of the store sessions should be alot more planned out other then just making a YouTube video i think it would one help mike out alot by not having to make a video, but also make people who are say not on YouTube alot. Find out easier by maybe making a sheet with times when it will be open like every 3rd saterday of the month sort of thing. I also think mike shouldn't have as many parks out so kids can look forward to seshing on new parks at rendezvous. Also i think it would be a good idea if you were a skate shop or sotmhing one it would be easyer to pay for rent and two skaters would come in and appreeciat it more because you sell both and not just do fingerboard stuff and it would bring in alot more traffic from skaters and non skaters and probably others who want to see what fingerboarding is all about so if you are goign to make a fingerboard shop make sure to get your store out there and make sure kids in your area do fingerboard if not have a small shop in your house or somthing i think that would be great.

| I'm just trying to help. I literally didn't read anything you wrote because it was just one incredibly long sentence like this one here and the thing is people dont wanna read this because its just a really long sentence like a wall of text you know cuz forreal its difficult to read sentences are meant to seperate ideas and help people intake all the information given and take a break in between ideas so we dont get overloaded so people will actually read it.
seriously dude im not trying to be a twat, but personally i dont read posts that are longer than Macbeth and have no periods. JUSSAYIN. |
