| Hi i have a few questions on buying my first very good setup (i have a wooden fingerboard, china wides and bearing wheels but nothing fancy) 1. I was looking at berlinwood and yellowood but what shape; i have two wooden decks that both have equal kicks and berlinwood dosent , will i get used to this and is it an advantage? i so how so ? also i like medium kicks and medium concave so what yellowood shape would this be (my preferred width is 29-30mm) 2. Also ytrucks or blackriver ? i heard that any wheel can fit on ytrucks and i like the shape of them but do they come in chrome? are the new uniteds chrome, i cant tell ? 3. whats the difference between all of the flatface wheels e.g. G6 G7 G5-6 G6A etc. and i would like white wheels so keep that in mind 4. Are oak wheels good or do they wear out fast because they are soft? Any help would be very much appreciated , Thanks |

| I have a berlinwood wide low, a 29mm BW and BrT's. I got used to both my Berlinwood's pretty quick. As always with a new deck it takes a little bit of time but easy enough. Also have 2 sets of BrT's. No complaints with them at all tbh.
Also this should be in either quick questions or discussion thread man. |

| you posted this in the wrong place, moved to fingerboarding discussion. as for your questions.. 1) If you want medium concave go for the Berlinwood classic shape or Yellowood Z2. Yellowood is mellower though. And yes, you'll get used to the kicks, it makes for a much more interesting ride I find. 2) both are fantastic trucks, to get the same concept of wheels spinning just on the bearing you need dual bearings with Ytrucks basically, so the price difference between them is nothing. I prefer brts + brt ed wheels, but ys are great too. y uniteds are chrome and black I believe - however I know the colourways are different between x3s and x4s, so make sure you get x3s if you're after a 29mm deck. 3) G6 is a standard single bearing wheel, G7 is a dual bearing wheel, G7.1 is a smaller dual bearing wheel, and G4 is a big vert like single bearing wheel. I think the best Flatface wheels are BRT editions as they work on any trucks (despite what the site says) and just give you a longer lasting wheel. however if you're after Ys maybe G7.1s are better 4) Nah they're great, long lasting too - just don't expect them to be as super super smooth as flatface or winkler wheels - they've got a unique feel. |

| Moved to the right section 1. You should get used to the BW shape pretty fast, it's a very average shape that anyone can use. 2. Ytrucks or BRT's.. Well, it depends on what you are after. If you want to ride loose I'd recommend BRT's as their pivot system is more responsive. My personal preference is Ytrucks since they take dual bearing wheels and i like my bushings medium tight. 3. Flatface wheels G numbers indicate the wheel design/generation. The letters indicate the material. Different materials have different colours and feel. Doesn't matter unless you are picky. 4. Oak wheels are great wheels. Not as smooth as traditional wheels, but they have a realistic look and are of great quality. I haven't seen them wear down. |

| This is just my opinion but I find Yellowood so much better than Berlinwood so I would recommend Yellowood but it's totally up to you but just a little tip |

| Most top brand fingerboards wont have equal kicks, as they're trying to make their decks realistic like a skateboard, and not many skateboards have equal kicks. Berlinwood's are a more standard shape, where Yellowoods are not. Yellowoods dont have as rounded kicks, but they perform just as well, its just a different style of deck.
As far as trucks go, Mikkel said it all really. One thing I'd like to add though is that I've found ytrucks to be alot more reliable that BRT's.
One final thing to add is to maybe look into more deck brands. There is plenty of links around the site, and people here will surely point you in the right direction. Compared to wheel and truck options, there are so many more options with decks out there. Also Berlinwoods, and yellowoods are probably the two most expensive deck brands out there, you can get just as good, if not better, decks that are cheaper if you look around. But, buy what you want, if you want a berlinwood or yellowwood and the price isnt putting you off, then go with it! You wont be dissapointed.
Ohh and I forgot. I wouldnt go with oaks, (or y wheels), as you're first set of bearing wheels. Id go with flatface, winkler or any sort of 'normal' type of wheels. They'll basically be a way better version of what you're already used to, and not drastically different. After you've tried a set of good bearing wheels, Id try some oaks then. I personally don't ride as well with oaks, I find them too grippy. But alot of people really like them. Its all about finding you're preferences!

| 3. g7=dual bearing g7.1=dual bearing/different shape then g7 g6=single bearing "g6" shape g4=single bearing "g4" shape. Different shape from g6
all the g6-5, g6a, g6t, g6d,etc is basicly the samething just different color. |

| Its pretty much all up to you. BRTs seem like worth the money, but Tech Deck longboard trucks are really good too. Also what Boffey said, there are other kinds of deck brands out there that are as good or even better than Berlinwoods or yellowoods. I personally own a Berlinwood, but I actually like my G12 and G13 a little bit more. Since you are going to buy one of your very first custom completes, I say you should just see whats good on Flatface. Or go check out Homewood, I heard they have really good decks. Also on the wheels go get some Flatface wheels, they are really good and amazing, you are going to love a pair of Flatface wheels. |
