aluminum sheets that are 1/64"-1/42" work the best...an aluminum can works pretty good. And as far as glue goes, I have found that for metal bottoms, gorilla glue or a 2 part epoxy works the best.

but the cool thing about gorilla glue expanding like it does, it will create more pressure in the mold, and it will fill in every little space

You can go to a hardware store and ask for "metal shingles" which are very cheap but work well. For glue use regular gorilla glue I suggest wearing latex gloves when spreading this and also putting a piece of wax paper between the deck being molded and the mold itself. When cutting out a metal bottem ply deck you are going to need to use a belt/disk sander for best quality. Go VERY slow so that sparks do not fly everywhere. If you would like to have a shiny bottem ply, at walmart there is 220 grit sandpaper which is really fine, sand the heck out of the bottom and using a strong matte/laqure do 5-7 thin coats. Also if you would like to know where to buy laqure, if you have a hobby shop in your town you should ask them, at wal-mart they have acrylic sealer matte, I would suggest this for new fingerboard makers as it is cheap and dries quickly.
