| Hello, my name is Austin, I'm 16, and I recently got back into fingerboarding (mental block kept me from doing anything). I decided to join this forum to meet members of the fingerboarding community, and hopefully make some new friends.
As of now, I'm waiting for some tape to come in the mail, so I'm hoping to meet new people up here while I'm waiting. |

| Almost forgot to introduce myself - my name is Lynn (male though) and with my 37 years I'm probably the worldwide oldest geek who's (still) into Fingerboarding.
I used to skate a lot in the period of 1989 - 1993, stopped because I got too interested in girls and partying.
The only fingerboards I ever came across back in the day where those gimmicky gift type things.
Nevertheless I enjoyed whatever crap I could find. Had a board with weird white plastic trucks and black cone-shaped metal wheels. The deck broke, so out of desperation I made a paper/cardboard deck which actually lasted quite long.
Later I got one of the first tech decks and it sucked so much that I eventually lost my interest and focused on getting laid instead (which back in the day would not ever happen if anyone saw you with a fingerboard).
I eventually bought the first Close Up Deck in 2007 (i think) and loved it a lot. But did not really fingerboard much.
Now, 20 years after I stopped skating, old man that I am, I bought a new deck from Almost, trucks, new wheels and went out to get hurt again. Damn how could I ever stop in the first place?!
And in the same spirit, now with the advent of professional bearing wheel wood Fingerboards, I got myself a proper Fingerboard setup as well! And another one and another one, and oh that one is so beautiful, want to have them all!!
Damn, this time I'm really hooked! And browsing through the "newest setup" thread here it strikes me how these little boards are actually tiny pieces of genuine art, unique and individualistic, with a love and attention to detail that you rarely find elsewhere, neither in Skateboarding.
I am amazed to have stepped into this genuine subculture of individuals who are actually creating and becoming true artists without even realizing it.
So much respect for the skills and creativity that you boardmakers put into this, lifting this to a whole new level!
