This thread is some things that i have found will help you on your way (mainly for starting a company selling decks)
1. Make a plan- have an idea of what you will be selling, how you will sell it, and the prices that you will be selling products at (might want to start cheap to get the products into the scene)
2. Plan spending- figure out what materials you will need to make your product and figure out how much all of the material will cost, bearing in mind that buying in bulk will be cheaper and that there is no point in having only enough materials to make 5 decks. Be sure that this is definetely what you want to do and spend money on and ask yourself whether you have the required machinery and skills at your fingertips to produce quality products
3. Buying- Pay for the goods that you will need and record how much everything has cost you and where you got it and also the name or brand (all maybe needed for future references)
4.Research- make sure you know exactly how to make a fingerboard and pick up as many tips as possible from websites and youtube videos
5.Making- when making your decks the number one thing to do is not to rush, be patient. Taking your deck out of the mold too early could result in warping, and not taking time could result in easily avoidable mistakes e.g. rounding, holes etc. Keep in mind that the first few decks (and molds) you make you will probably screw up and they may look very bad. Keep in mind what you done wrong and don't do it again. Once you have a consistant product and about 10 or above decks ready to be sold move onto the next step.
6.name and logo- come up with a name and design a logo (or ask someone else) but make sure to use a quality program like adobe illustrator, not paint. make sure the name is catchy but also shows what your company is about
7. Website- set up a simple free website (bigcartel, weebly or 1on1 are good) and take clear photos and descriptions on the website. make it very informative and try to include lots of photos. Include the logos that you have made and make the design fun to look at and have a nice vibe.
8. Announcement- Start a new thread on fingerboardhq (here) and explain why you set up the company, what you sell etc.. Don't respond to any negative feedback in a bad way as this will only lose you customers in the long run, take it as constructive criticism and build on it. Make a youtube channel and make a video showing off your decks.
9. Building- You may want to hand out free decks to people in return for them to use it and review it, as this will increase the number of people wanting to buy the decks
10. Sponsors- Once your decks are fairly well known you may want to sponsor events to furthermore interest people in the product. You may also want to sponsor a person or people and send them products once in a while for them to advertise and represent for you.
Final word- If you are trying to make money, do not start a fingerboard company. There is little profit for a company starting out so the reason that you would make one was because you have a passion for making decks and would like to bring more people into the fingerboarding community
All of this is my personal opinion and i hope it helped
