Ok so I know a lot of people have a problem with being embarrassed about fingerboarding. A lot of people will say its lame and gay. And to buy a real skateboard. I'm only 14 so I don't have too much of a problem telling my friends. But here's some tip on how to react or what to do about that problem.

1. "I don't want to tell my friends incase they ditch me"
Ok so I know this is the most popular answer to this question, but it is super true. If they ditch you, they aren't real friends. In my personal Experiance, I've found that I more people fingerboard than you realize. I told my friend that I fingerboarded. And he said "oh that's cool. I have a tech deck and can Ollie." Pretty cool! But this is not always the case. Some people won't be as accenting. Sometimes they may not say it to your face, but might think that you are wierd. Others are just mean. So be careful who you tell. If you tell your good friends, they should accept it. If you tell the "cool" kids that u hang out with. They might diss you so as not to ruin their own rep. Another huge thing is, avoid showing someone figerboarding if you suck yourself. Because you are less likely to impress them. But if you are really good and can pull of some sick tricks, they will be immpressed. Whether they say it or not, they will be inpressed.

2. "Ok so I DID tell some kids. And they now ignore me.
Ok like I said before they aren't real friends. But the main thing you MUST remember is DO NOT QUIT FINGERBOARDING BECAUSE SOMEONE MADE FUN OF IT!!! I e seen people say. "I'm done with fingerboarding because ppl just keep picking on it. The best thing to do in a time like that, is go to fingerboardhq.com!!! This is the best place to recover from being bullied about fingerboarding. Everyone I've met on her is friendly and kind. And everyone e loves fingerboarding, so u can fit in. I hope this helps anyone, also let me knowyour opinion on fingerboarding and whether it sucks or not

I told few friends of mine that I fingerboarded and they said like ok show me some tricks and stuff. But when they found out my videos they were like "seriously?"

if your friends are gonna take the piss for you fbing then there not your friends, i can fb in front of my friends and there fine and some think its cool.

Dude it's all about whether you like it,I have been around skateboards all of my life and have come across people who think that FBing is not the real deal,they soon change their minds when they get shown some killer footage and have to admit that they themselves can't do what they have been watching.I am new to this sport and don't have many people around me that do it but I have a good friend who was probably the best flat ground skater in Australia in his day and he loves FBing.Also the origins of FBing go back to the Bones Brigade video Future Primitive,Lance Mountain FB's in that movie.I bet no-one would be telling him it's not cool or he is lame.I know that Tom Penny FB's and very likely a whole bunch of other great skaters do to.

personally i don't want the reputation as the 18 year old college student that plays with tech decks but whatever floats your guy's boat.

I've been fingerboarding in class all the time i've went to school. Some people notice, and asks about it. Some might think it's weird.. But in the end, no one really cares. If fingerboarding is all you have to build your reputation on, then you either wanna rethink what you do, or you should be fine with having a reputation as a fingerboarder.

Very well put. I fingerboard in school all the time if the teacher doesn't mind. I've lost some decently good friends to fingerboarding, or so I thought they were decent. The only way to find out who's actually your friend is to open up and share some thought and uniqueness. Take this from the guy who sits at home with no friends all day fingerboarding and hanging out with his girlfriend, though. haha

I first thought this was a diss thread, good thing I read it first. From my experiences people here don't really care what your hobbies are. If they see me fingerboarding either they don't say anything or they say it's cool and wants me to teach them. I have good friends

I heard form a dude some shit about p rod and some other "pro" skaters fingerboard but keep it on the DL because merica is retarded with what is "kool"... fuck kool kids there lifes are shit and they are dead on the inside do your own thing were individuals not fucking materialistic pupets...

In 8th grade I use to fingebroard ALL the time in class and I met someone else that fingebroarded lol...
Then I got most of the class hooked, trading tech decks and stuff.

And again in 9th I met someone else who legit had a redemption, jace wheels, and some wides. And he lived literally 5 minutes away from me and I never knew... He isn't too educated in the scene since he buys china decks sometimes but still cool I met him and were good friends.

I pretty much met alot of cool people in real life thanks to fingerboarding.
