| Anyone else rooted their android phone or tab? Thinking of rooting my xperia play but it all seems a bit complicated, and I can't really find any tutorials specifically for my phone. Also is overclocking worth the hassle aswell?

I have no need for it seeming as I have a nexus 4, constantly updated with all the latest from google. if you've got an older device and not experienced android 4.x or higher.. I'd say it's probably worth it. overclocking really depends on your hardware

Rooted my phone probably more times than I care for, trust me it is anything but complicated. Message me if you need help. Forget overclocking, it destroys your battery.

Ok thanks for the help guys, im going on holiday on monday so it's probably not a good idea to root at right now, seen as I could have problems when I'm away without my computer. Im not gonna bother with overclocking, but im probably going to update my version of android seen as the best I can get at the moment is gingerbread, which is pretty old now. What are the differences between gingerbread and whatever the current version is? I might also install some custom roms.

I'm also on gingerbread atm and I have to say it's pretty shit. A lot of the apps aren't compatible and especially on instagram you can't use video (and I use instagram alot, so I want it haha). But I think there's a way of updating your firmware to 4.1 but you have to use your pc and download and install it (i think). I'm going to do it with my dad later once we've "reset" the firmware "2.3.6".

4.3 is amazing, I don't see the need for custom roms unless you're enough of a tech person that you wouldn't have to ask the questions in this thread upgrade to that and you'll be set I think (Y)
