Gonna have to honestly disagree with you guys. I'm a collector of Tech Deck molds/shapes/series and a long time fingerboarder and I personally think that the Wood Competition Series G2 is the best deck Tech Deck have ever produced. For those that don't know, these are the only publicly available wooden boards Tech Deck have released: 1. (Wooden) Collector Series - 26mm - there are the standard ones but there were also 2 old school shapes in the series which I won't separately number in this list. Kicks were small and too low to be good. 2. Promotional wooden boards - 26mm - These are not directly sold and can be identified by a red top ply. Some examples of boards from this mold are fans' own designs from a competition and the top 6 designs got made, some Tech Deck branded graphics and some collaboration graphics with skate parks/shops. They have a shape somewhere between the original Collector Series and Wood Comp G1 with higher kicks. They're pretty rare but can easily be bought on eBay. Most people don't realise this was another mold Tech Deck had. Comes with standard trucks, usually packaged in a just a small plastic packet. They weren't that good performance wise. 3. Wood Competition Series G1 - 26mm - these were the previous generation of wooden decks. The kicks were still too low and small but are a considerable improvement from the first wooden decks from the Collector Series. 4. Wood Competition Series G2 - 26mm - these are the boards you see linked in the OP. They have higher kicks and more suitable concave compared to the last generation. 5. Expert Sk8 - 30mm - Wide but the proportions of the oversized kicks and tiny wheelbase are the main drawbacks of why this board was not as good as it should have been. These don't include various prototypes of the above series as I've seen earlier versions of the Expert Sk8 be different in dimensions. So yeah, at £4 for what I believe is a decent licensed graphic wooden deck, probably the best board they've ever released, plus they are discontinued and will be harder to come by in the future, I think I'd buy some. But you will probably enjoy them more if you can handle 26mms, and even if not, it's not a lot to pay to try one. I own 2 of these decks. One is just the default complete, one I set up with better gear. |
