| Kendrick is dope, his section 80 album is really good.
The biggest problem with lyrical rappers being so popular is people misunderstand them.
Kendrick spits about experiences, stories & examples of "poor, black American culture"
A lot of people think he is singing about having so much money, and alcohol being so cool, that he wants to physically fill his swimming pool with liquor next weekend and swim in it . Obviously if you listen and read the lyrics that couldn't be further from the actual message.
He is a really clever artist, and I have a ton of respect for him.
Personally I rank him with the greats because he has bought clever, deep, lyrical music to radio stations that play mindless shit by idiots that are too stupid to write their own music like Miley Cyrus and Pitbull. |
