| So, I want to start working with concrete! My first project is a flat topped pyramid. I have the foam and mesh core done and I'm ready to apply the concrete. Has anyone goy any tips for working with concrete before I take the plunge? Pics forthcoming, of course |

| Test to find the right consistancy you want to work with and try a few different mix types |

| Just smooth it with metal tools throughout the entire drying process, with increasing pressure as its nearly dry. You can smoothen it untill its rock hard, every 30-60 minutes work on it a bit. Dont ever sand it, when its dry its done! |

Kinda like applying body filler over a dent on a car panel? You are boss at making crete parks ramps etc |

| Done! It's so much fun! I think I'm going to make a thread in the how-to section with a bit of a tutorial. As concrete is surprisingly easy to work with and you can make some sick stuff. Thanks for the advice guys, it all helped I am curious though Mike, why do you say never to sand? Is it an aesthetic thing, or what? I was fully planning on sanding it down after it properly dried, to get it to a glassy smoothness, but I'm having second thoughts now! |

| Cause sanding concrete usually makes it rougher. There's sometimes a tiiiny bit of sanding you can do, but you should be able to smooth it to a better consistency than sanding will give you. Usually sanding just gets rid of the finer material that's in between slightly larger "rocks" which will not sand away and leave you with a rough surface. |

| Mike, your advice was particularly helpful, cheers dude. I definitely worked two of the sides better than the others but all of them are more than smooth enough to use. Easily the best obstacle I have (for now, I still have half a bag of concrete left!) Also, I made this sweet little manny pad/ledge as a tester (which was definitely a good idea, thanks Conner)
