| Tonight on the way home, my buddy tried to speed ahead of me, I pulled to the side of him in the next lane, started going fast, and he gassed it. I hit the brakes, slowing down to make him look dumb for being a douche. Just my luck, not two seconds later, a car pulls into the lane behind me, and police lights go off. I pull over, the cop comes to my window, gets my license (which is just a piece of paper at the moment. My wallet got stolen so the DMV is mailing another) my registration, etc. I'm being polite, talking normal; the cop isnt being aggressive really or anything either. I tell him me and my friend were just being stupid with each other. He asks me "If I let you off this time, are you going to drive like this again?" I tell him no obviously. Then he continues, "Because if I catch you again, I'm going to right you up for speeding, dangerous driving, not using a blinker (I don't think that is even illegal), anything I can think of, AND THEN I'LL PROBABLY MAKE UP SOME SHIT TOO."
Really!? The people that are there to protect us civilians I now can't trust. And seem to be more of a threat. I know not all cops are that way, but man does stuff like this really take a shot at your faith in public officers. |

| Were are you located? Maybe where you were speeding there's been a lot of crashes or something due to speeding? Just trying to think of things. Regardless that's terrible to threaten to make up charges. Next time something like that happens you should get their badge number and make a complaint. It actually does make a difference when you do that despite what you might hear. |

| Maybe it was an officer with a sense of humor, and he was kidding about the making up shit. Seems like exactly what i would say to scare teenagers out of speeding.
There are a bunch of shitty cops all over the world, but threats is the least you should worry about coming from those. |

| Ive actually heard from many sources that police stations prefer hiring uneducated persons so they conform to enforcing unjust laws easier. |

| He definitely was just trying to intimidate me more, but he said it in such a way that was like "I know I have the power to make things up, and nobody will believe your side if I do, so I will easily abuse my power."
I dunno, just glad I dont have to deal with a ticket, but it's really unsettling to hear that stuff. |

| the cops have took my license 7 times. and a few times i was on private property revving my engine checking out my new work done etc. not bothering anyone and they just "happen to pull in" boom exhibition driving. fuck you. yeah sorry i dont like cops period. theyve made me give up my lifestyle of being a performance car enthusiast completely. i especially wasnt fond of them after searching "Police brutality" and finding thousands upon thousands of hits maybe even millions now. no..just no. |

| Just make sure you know your rights. You did everything right, and when he said "he's going to make shit up too," he was just talking out of his ass. I'd just make sure not to drive like that again, unless you want to get pulled over. |

| Thing is UrbanJump, you're 19 years old and you're right. He was most probably trying to scare you a bit. He didn't give you a ticket and he's probably had to go to the houses of kids who've been egging each other on and have died in crashes/ hit pedestrians etc. He almost definitely wants you and other people around the roads to be safe. |

| Yeah like stated above. Know your rights!!!! Can't stress that enough. A lot of people don't know them and have cops walk all over them. Even though they're authority, you also have authority. I once had the cops come to my apartment due to neighbor complaints about the smell. Cops showed up and just barged in. I was younger at the time so I just let them in. Now older and smarter I could have stopped them at the door and asked if they had a warrent. Totally wavied my rights when they walked in the door. But don't get me wrong cops are great, just the shady ones make a bad reputation for all. Anyways on a side note. My biggest pet peeve driving is people NOT using their blinker. It seems like a lost art, like cursive writing. |

| I know my rights more than most kids my age. Mostly because I go film at spots and get kicked out quite a bit. Dealing with cops all the time, I decided to do research on what my rights are. As for the blinker, the road was clear, it was kinda late at night, was just getting around my buddy, and I always use my blinker. One of my pet peeves as well. |
