Hey fingerboarders

I recently bought a cheap fingerboard in spain for fun on a holiday 3 weeks, but it grabbed my attention and now im getting a Berlinwood/Black River next week..

The only thing that im wondering about is that i use 3 fingers instead of two. I read somewhere that the official rules says you are allowed to use 2 or 3 fingers, but on all the movies i see on youtube they use 2 fingers?

I am only doing it for fun as it seems to occupy my 200mph/hr brain quite good, and i want to get better at it. So should i keep on using 3 or should i just start over with using only 2?

Switch to 2, index in the middle, middle finger on the tail.

much like skateboarding, there are no 'official rules'. Use 3 fingers if you want but 99 percent of people use 2 and as you only started 3 weeks ago, it'd maybe be a good choice now if you switch to 2. you'll get used to it in no time.

Yea dude 2 fingers. It's a more realistic feel just as everyone else said. I started out with three but as I got more into the scene I switched. It just looks a lot better too

Honestly whatever is comfortable and fun at the same time for you man, yes most people use 2 and I recommend it but if you have more fun using 3 then I'm not here to judge! Just have fun

try to find a few vids of kids using 3 fingers, or even their whole hand - it just doesn't look good   
Of course it's your decision, but i guess you'll have more fun, if you know what you're doing has a little bit style.

I was having trouble landing stuff with 3 fingers at the beginning,as I got more used to FBing it just became normal to land with 2.

I thought it was easier to learn how to ollie with three fingers but that was a while back and my hands were smaller. But i agree that with 2 fingers you can achieve a lot more style

There's no wrong in fingerboarding, so if you have more fun using 3 fingers, then by all means use 3 fingers. But to reiterate what everyone said, yes it is suggested to switch to 2 fingers, and not necessarily because it's the normal thing to do, but I think it is more to do with that it gives you a realistic feel when doing your tricks. I'm struggling with this, I started just having them raised up away from my board, which doing stuff regular is fine as they aren't in the way, but now I'm trying to do everything in switch those 2 fingers really get in my way so now I'm trying to learn how to have them tucked away, wish I'd done this at the start as I'm finding myself having to constantly remind myself to tuck.

But that's just me, I don't see any problems with using 3 fingers if you're having fun with it.
