| I just got fiber optic internet installed the other day, it's in a rural area though so it's only fiber to the green cabinets, and copper from there to my house, but it's still crazy fast, before getting this my max speed was 2.5Mb/s DL, and 0.75Mb/s up, here's what I'm getting now. https://imgur.com/VIeLzMiThe difference is insane! Edit Holy crap Kerry, what type of connection is that you have? My latency hasn't dropped much between my fiber and old ADSL connection, that's obviously got to do with the copper wire part I imagine, and that's why my ping hasn't really changed much, fiber or cable straight into your home is going to give you crazy low latencies, this is something that won't happen any time soon in my area, we're lucky to have this type of fiber already, but yeah downloading 18GB files in no time, I wouldn't attempt to dl anything larger than 1GB before as it took forever, not anymore, and now I can actually stream YouTube videos in full HD instead of having to watch stuff at a crappy 360p/480p. |
