My name is Joaquin Mendez, i'm 19 years old, i'm studying cinema and professional fingerboarder.
I think that some time ago i was fingerboarding cause i liked the competition, i wanted to be sponsored like all the kids...it's like if "they" sell you dreams, cause you can have a sponsor without beeing an awesome athlete...
Besides fingerboarding, i skate since 5 years ago, like many other fingerboarders, because most of the times if you're interested in fingerskating is because before you were in love with skateboarding...then it's like a mini revolution..."holy shit, i can do skateboard tricks with my fingers"...
I started filming myself since the begginigs, i had an mp3 player taht could film videos, and i made sketchy videos with that. Later i started buying cameras, and lerning how to use them, i learnt that there were some rules, a lot of things could be done...and since then, 6 years ago, i'm making "self taught" (idk if this translation make sense...) videos.
I'm professional fingerboarder, but nowadays you can't live from fingerboarding, i don't have any salary...i have every material that i want for free, and i have the support in order to do some stuff, like the event that we made, that was supported by BRR, and that allowed us to have prices for the kids.
In five years, i see a bigger scene, working as a graphic designer for some company, or making more videos...
Sorry but my english is not good as my spanish :DThe point is that Joaquin is from Argentina, and some times is hard to understand if you are not argentinian...
