I've been fingerboarding for a long time.

Since basically when Techdecks first hit the USA market.

I come from a generation of fingerboarders where we didn't have companies, or bearing wheels, or teams, events or rendezvous or even youtube.

I myself rode Techdecks and non brearing wheels for over 10 years and fingerboarded pretty much alone with no real meet ups.

Just recently I was going though all the files from my old computer and found some old fingerboard videos from 2004.

So if you want to see what it was like back then go ahead and check out these videos.

And by the way, the only reason I have these videos is because back in 2004 I only had dial up internet (56k) and there was no streaming video like you can today. You had to download the video, which took forever and then only play it back after it downloaded.

In the videos you don't see any of the companies that exist today. You don't even see blackriver ramps. All you see is simply home made obstacles. You can see that some of the titles of the videos say BATTLE on them. That's because some of them were from the Techdeck message boards where you used to battle each other by doing tricks and people voting on who won. Yeah, does everyone here remember doing battles 10 years ago???

Well, 10 years ago the scene was pretty small...at least, i was alone in my city (or this is what i though...). I uploaded this in 2006 i think...

I remember fingerboarding 10 years ago, almost just as many companies as today, but way lower quality. I remember looking at Berlinwoods in the local skateshop, wanting to get a wooden fingerboard. This inspired me to make my own.

We had a city championship back then. I won. The prize was stickers.

This reminds me of old skateboarding clips, like really sketchy back then but constantly progressing untill now

Hell yeah! I remember getting a lot of hate on my videos back in 2004.. like tons of angry 10 year olds. I had a nice video doing some tricks and grinds.. one of them was a kickflip over a barrel (kinda like your video Jordi) that I slomoed and thought was pretty tight at the time.. no shit some kid was like "kickflip over berral WOW so hard!!...(something something about how I suck)" So much has changed everyone is very positive and mature about it.

anyway ima stop ranting. I don't have any of my old vids... lost them all on crashed computers.  

good times then. I remember making really shitty decks and being not very good with tech decks.
