PostSubject: Tool Alternatives?   Tool Alternatives? EmptySun Jun 29, 2014 11:32 pm

So I've lost all my tech deck tools, and my BRR one. I'm getting a new deck tomorrow and I kind of wanted to change a few different things on my setup as well. I'm using one of those small eyeglass tools for the screws, but what can I use for the nuts? Any ideas?

if you have a very small set of needlenose pliers that might work, but no guarantees

yeah that's usually what I do, unfortunately walmart (the only store in my town that stocks tech decks) doesn't carry them anymore. is that a widespread thing? are all walmarts not carrying them?

idk if it's the same in the US, but if yes, you get tech decks in every toy store.

i found a tool while cleaning my fingerboard park, but for anyone wondering there is pretty much no alternative for a tech deck tool as far as nuts go. bolts you can use those eyeglass screwdrivers (which work better than a td tool) but nothing for nuts.

The end of a click pen works for nuts. I should have stated that in my previous comment.

I've used a pen tip in a pinch when I was on vacation and forgot my tool. Has to be the cheap opaque plastic tips that you find in a hotel or standard BIC pen (not hard see through or metal tip).

Took the plastic tip off the pen, removed the ink cartridge, put the tip back on. Bent around the rim of the tip inward with my car key to close it off. Heated it up with a lighter and pressed it on the nut, blew on it till it was cool. The tip held its shape long enough to get me through.

PS> This method also works for making a tool to take apart older Gameboy cartridges to replace your save battery.

Wow sick, never thought to use a pen to open up gameboy games. Thanks for the tip!
