Concrete project #2 for me, making this one for the meet up in Vancouver (Compiny event hosted by Oliver, West Coast Classic) I decided to post this since people liked the thread I made for my bowl project. I took photos from start to where I am now, and it may help people wondering how they can make a concrete park themselves.


I don't have a photo of my drawing I did, but I quickly sketched what I wanted it to look like. Just quick measurements and the first part was cutting out the styrofoam. I'm using 1inch thick styrofoam insulation, and the platform underneath is 2ft x 2ft.

I then used a box cutter to cut out the shape of the quarters.

This is what it then looked like.

I then used wire mesh or chicken wire, to cover the styrofoam. This is for reinforcement. I used fencing nails to hold it down.

I covered the rest of the styrofoam.

I measured and cut a metal rod to use as coping.

Where the bowl curves I used a round tub to mark it and I used that same tub to bend the rod around so it would fit perfect.

Before I poured the concrete I setup a wall around the base so that the concrete would settle nicely. I used an L shaped metal bracket that I cut to size. On the top flat where I couldn't use an L bracket I used quarter inch plywood.

For the C ledge/pad I used cardboard. I used adhesive spray to stick two pieces together because the cardboard was flimsy.

And that's where I'm at so far. Sorry if this should be in the how to section. I didn't mean for it to be so much like a tutorial, more so just a progression thread of my project. Also I won't make a new thread everyday of my countless projects. Thanks

That is the only downer about it, not much space. I just had leftover styrofoam, wire mesh and concrete and lots of time on my hands since I'm off work after I messed my foot up. The 2x2 piece was all I had, didn't feel like spending money if I didn't have to. Ended up having almost the perfect amount of leftovers from the bowl. I've been craving a build and with the meetup this weekend I thought I'd make something with what I had. Yeah, tried my best to use the space wisely and I think it'll be alright. Who knows maybe I'll build off of it sometime and make it bigger.

Yea well, lines are gonna be tight, but it's definitely possible to flow on it. It doesn't seem like you are short of ride-up space anywhere. Really impressive!

Yeah not too hard, just material and some practice with building stuff is all you need.


Here's the big secret I used with my bowl to make the surface smooth... *drum roll* drywall putty. The thing about this stuff is it sands very easily and dries very solid. Just a layer thick enough to cover any bumps, then I used a dry wall sander which is like a sponge with sand paper around the whole thing. So I did that, sanded it until I was happy with it and now I am on to the primer.

For a second i thought it was gonna be a 3 block lol
