| The whole system is flawed plus it stops the potential activity and revenue in the subforum. Like teach smart BST habits and put out tips on how to be smart when buying or selling things online... Condemning lesser known members as malicious is not even accurate in the first place plus they're denying people because they can (they rejected Mike Schneider's application probably because they have the power to) and I've seen older and more tenured members pull sketchy ass shit more so than members with low post counts so this system clearly hasn't been thought out |

| "They" rejected? Harvey is the only one accepting/denying "applications". Moderators play no role and have zero power in. Deciding who gets in and who doesn't. |

| Yea, the system is very flawed.
I think it'd be better to let everyone in and then kick them out if they get bad refs. |

| I think the system works fine, it just needs to be checked more often. My application took about a month maximum to be approved. If a user is a legit trader, but has no interest in supporting this community, they shouldn't be allowed in the B/S/T section. Maybe allow a more active admin/mod to accept or reject members? |

| The whole thing is ridiculous, I agree. But you've gotta do what you've gotta do, you know? Cause you don't know who is a scammer on here and has multiple accounts behind their one name. You know? Like there are a lot of legit people on here, but it's best to take secure when doing transactions, with random people on the computer. It may take time, but it'll be worth it, so you're not getting ripped off of a expensive product. |

I am completely serious. EDIT: Realized that could be taken as sarcasm aswell, lol.. But yea, i don't think it is healthy to assume that everyone is a scammer and not letting them in untill they have contributed. And since it's only admins that can allow people into the section, and the admins here aren't very active, it becomes kind of a dead section. Back in the days on FFI there was a 50 post limit (i think) to get in to the section and a bad bidders list for people kicked out. It seemed to work great. |

| I gotcha haha. And yes I completely agree with you on that.
An actually on FFI, I don't think it was a 50 post limit. They stopped doing post count very shortly after the site was up again after the crash in 07 because people would just spam random threads to up their post count. I think it was just two months of membership or something like that if I remember correctly. |

| I kinda agree with Mikkel. Let everyone in BUT also have a 'reliable sellers' list. And then just warn people that if you don't do deals with people on the list, then you're taking a risk. |

| The only flaw in the section is i never get round to accepting applications and im terrible for that as it takes up to an hour and i struggle to find the time, but thats no excuse and i will now work on a way around that.
The system works great and its for your own safety, we have had 0 scamming since the changes.
The only reason we dont let new members in is because it would be so easy to just make a new account, scam, then leave, but if you build a profile and a name for yourself on the forum, all that effort, it makes it harder for people to just to come and go scamming, and obviously if an older member scams they will be punished accordingly.
I think if i could allow all staff to accept and decline the system would work alot better, i will work on designating more of my own time to work on this.
PS
I DID NOT decline Mike Schneider for the sake of declining him, i did it to keep things fair as on THIS forum he did not meet the requirements, it was an act of fairness towards other members. Dont disrespect the people who bring you this service [All staff] |

The problem with this is that it is really hard for us to say when someone is reliable, and by making such a list it could seem like we promise that nothing can go wrong when trading with the people on it. I think the references threads are good, i just wish people would write a better description of the trades so that it would be easier to judge. Harvey is forgetting a few cases with Alex J and Callum who seemed reliable, but ended up scamming people. This has happened after the new section. That said, we won't ever be able to offer a risk-free BST section, but we will do our best to minimize the risk as much as possible. So no matter who you trade with, be careful. Always use paypal. Never send first when it's someone you dont know etc. |

naw I'm in I'm just saying that this system doesn't necessarily stop scamming and sketchy users from participating in illicit BST activity. Didn't that Callum guy and Ken I. scam certain individuals (and more)? They were pretty respected and tenured in the fingerboarding community but they decided to turn their backs and go on a scamming spree when they a) decided they were going to quit anyway b) whatever reason. Like I said it would be better to teach SAFE buying/selling/trading habits because you can't really get rid and prevent scamming completely. You could always have a "main" BST section for all member who have posts above 25 for example and then a "premium" sellers section for members who are more well-known, in the community longer, etc. etc. Just an idea. Plus it's kinda easy to deal with multi accounters. Permban IPs, etc. Harvey, there is no disrespecting it only seems like you're not able to take criticism or anything for that matter. I am giving you legitimate feedback and you're kinda brushing it off which is... fine? I guess whatever. Take it as you will |

| It's actually pretty easy to tell when a user has made a new account because when you IP check them it will usually say if they've got another account under that IP. Obviously there's ways around that but that's usually the way it goes. |

| Here's a suggestion I have. Gunner is a "trade" mod, correct? Shouldn't he have the authority to accept/deny peoples' access to B/S/T. You should have Gunner handle these cases, because he is the trade moderator and that is his job. Plus it will take away an unnecessary job from you, and less of these threads will be made haha. |
