So I've been having a hard time with everything lately. Maybe it's because I haven't been able to fb in months, maybe it's another mental block. I don't know. That's what kept me from fingerboarding for three years, but I got over it. Anyway, I think I have another sort of mental block. For example, I could kickflip almost consistently whenever. Now, I'm actually having trouble ollie(ing?), when I used to be able to pop them a foot high. I don't know what's wrong with me but it's frustrating. Can anyone help?

I had a mental block at one point too, i think its better if you listen to music or watch videos when you fingerboard so you aren't thinking about it fully and you're more relaxed.

Sometimes after a while of not doing something your muscles have learned something else and superseded that over your past so when you go back you have to think a little bit harder but that is your problem. You're thinking too hard. Just know what you want and do it. Don't think HOW?

Maybe change the weight you put on your board? Be lighter or heavier on your fingers, that might help, I dunnnooo.

Here is a good tip. I usually use a high kick kinda high concave board, when am mental block occurs i switch to a low kick low concave setup. For some reason i then can complete the trick as my mind feels excited to be trying something different i guess. Then i switch emmidiately back to my usual board and i can bust the trick again. Switch boards for a few pops and give it a try ; )

Good tip Dilengner, we do exactly the same... Switch to something with high kicks in particular and we find it really helps, then you can switch back to your regular setup and it all falls back into place...

practice but not to the point of frustration. sometimes you need a break. "practice makes perfect" is the old saying, and it's true. it's a lot of muscle memory. your fingers get used to moving a certain way, etc. i have a lot on my plate with work and school, and i realized that when i learn a new trick, i really have to practice or my hands will "forget".
