| Now if you don't already know, most people ride 7.7" to about 8.25" decks on average. I currently skate 7.75-8.0" decks but will soon try out some wider boards to see which I like most...anyways... I thought about deck size one day and remembered that a fingerboard was approximately 1/8 of a skateboard in most instances. So let's toss in some simple math to see, are fingerboards realistic? Currently 32mmx98mm is super popular as well as 32mmx101mm and some 33mm decks. MATH TIME lol, I just know you can't wait... If a deck is 1/8 the size of a skateboard then say lets work with an 8.0x31" deck and a 32x98mm deck... where d=skateboard and f=fingerboard d/8=f f as of right now would be in inches so just convert to mm So a fingerboard deck should be 1" wide or... 25.4mm something here feels wrong, but if you do the math for length, it's around 98mm wide so length wise it's right just it width wise.. So in this case a 32mm deck would equal... SHIT 10"!!! But... What if you want to be realistic af lol but not sacrifice width, then people would have to make 1/6 scale decks So again d/6=f Width wise an 8.0" deck would be around 33mm sounds right, right? But you're in for a nice treat decks would now be made around 135mm long... Oh nooo, unless you're a real bowl troll, this isn't for your fingers haha So what about 1/7 scale hmm? Ok, math here is done and an 8.0" deck would be about 29mm, fair enough, now let's see the length... Drumroll please... these decks would measure 29mmx112mm, not that bad, but not really rideable.. So the conclusion is nope fingerboards size wise are not at all realistic, but considering how everything is changing at least once a year, you never know what you'll see will come! Hope you enjoyed reading this shortish informational post, and make sure to reply below, what do you think will happen eventually, and do you think size of fingerboards now is realistic?

| But what about scaled trucks, wheels, and tuning????
Seriously it's a fingerboard not a hot wheels car...... |

| Never really thought of the actual scale of fingerboards to skateboards, haha. Good on you for taking the time to figure that shit out! |

| Right, truck and wheels seem fairly well scaled, just not so much the decks... I make my decks around that size but... |

| Since feet aren't exactly fingers it ends up working out even if it doesn't necessarily make sense scale wise.
I say if you can fit it in your shirt chest pocket then your okay. |

| Well, now I can skip my math class today.
I just ride what is most comfortable for me, I don't worry too much about realism. |

| Being a math teacher (now former math teacher, I still tutor but that's besides the point lol) I thought about this way back when lol. I also came to the same conclusion, you can't be proportional to a skateboard in both length AND width. Either your deck will be too narrow or way too long. |

| Haha yeah I have a Bachelor's degree in Math and I taught high school math for 3 years before quitting to run Homewood full time. I still tutor ACT math classes part-time though so I'm still pretty knowledgeable about most of the content.

| Yeah it comes down to practice for the most part, I've been making decks consistently for 8 years now so I have a good grasp on the deck-making processes It's still not easy though! lol. |
