It's even funnier when you see someone do it with a 1 ply board.

Not trying to downplay the video at all - serious question. Are the basics in handboarding easier than fingerboard?

I've only used handboards for a very brief moments, and when I did I was being watched by people and/or rushed to give it to someone else. So that may impact the experience I had with them. But I'd say that fingerboarding basics are much easier than handboard basics.

I haven't used one since they first came out (10 years ago?) but I found them MUCH easy to pickup the fundamentals on. Its FAR easier to manipulate spins and flips etc. as the board is far bigger and you have all your digits on the board (making slight adjustments in pressure etc easier). I remember doing things like hard flip late flips off my fridge on the first day I picked one up...
Having said all that, this guy is a total beast!

Yeah yeah. When I first tried one I was a kid so I just scooped the the board up to do tricks (rather than actually popping it up without holding it) but I still remember doing tre flips like mad haha.

Found my old handboard today whilst rummaging through the back shed...oddly enough I found a spare set of unused Darkstar wheels too!
Anyone know where I can get a sheet of foam grip large enough for this? Kind of curious to see how it goes with better grip

Here's the thing with handboards, for all you asking about the mechanics and what not. It's definitely MUCH easier to get down the basic tricks and what not, because you are utilizing more strength and force as opposed to when you fingerboard. Both of your arms do a whole hell of a lot more than two finger do. BUT, handboarding is overall harder, at least in my opinion, because of the difficulty it takes to really get some sick tricks down. If you watch old jujubeanser videos (for those of you who don't know, the best handboarder to ever live) or even some old Brett Gagliardo videos, you will literally shit your pants at the stuff they do. It's much more complex than fingerboaridng that's for sure.
