Potentially thinking of a shop, like brr store Berlin or pateo in Portugal type of place, where young and old people can hang out, use ramps (make a store of it) but equipment etc but it would be a work in progress that could take up to a couple of years as I'm alone in the idea and not many finger boarders in surrounding area, (that I am aware of) so if a shop were to open, because I do not think there is one in England yet, would it be worth it? Also I'm a qualified engineer and have studied material properties etc, so am equipped with the skills on how to make wheels, boards etc

Sadly at this moment in time I don't think there's a big enough 'scene' in the UK for this to realistically work. Pete runs TNP (The Norwood Project) but it's a shop he runs from his home and is 100 percent web based. He does have a great Blackriver G13 park though, which will hopefully be an attraction at an event he's looking to run this summer. Keep your eyes peeled. If you're interested in starting a company, the best thing you could look into is trucks. Trucks are the only thing in the fb scene which haven't been done to death (most likely because of how difficult they are to produce). Good luck! |

Hi, I'm a mum of a fingerboard mad 13 year old, we live in Hastings. I saw this thread about opening a shop and I can see the market might not be developed enough yet but what about starting a club? Or is there already a club I don't know about? Anyone got any thoughts? Thanks

Hi Tracy. There are no official clubs that i know of. Every now and again there's a 'meet up' which will draw people in from different parts of the UK but nowadays we're lucky if they occur 2-3 times a year.

Hi thanks, has anyone thought of approaching The Source Park to host a club? Seems like a good fit with their business. If I tried to get one off the ground do people think there would be a demand for it?

@redtracyhastings that is a great idea, I often thought to approach them with a kind of like business idea, and I know they make their own ramps there, so maybe they could even make a park, but what I think the best idea would if source were to buy a blackriver park, a few boards an equipment and see how it takes off from there as there are no physical shops yet in England at all and source could be the leading path in it & not to mention it would be awesome!

Thanks guys, both ideas sound good to me. Love the idea of an event in the park, I'm desperately trying to avoid driving to Warwickshire for this event although My darling son mentions it 20 times a day! I'm going to do a bit of research and put a couple of proposals together both for a club and an event, anyone wants to help/ advice/ get involved let me know. Thanks

I believe Pete is looking at the potential idea for a fingerboard store similar to blackriver in Berlin. It'd be sick to have an actual store where people could go to and just meet up and meet new people. Plus if he were to open a store, as he's based in London it'd be a decent central hub for everyone. U.K. Fingerboarding needs to be kept alive!
