| Just got my Hard Knox Metal Bottom Ply in mail today, and boy was I wrong about what I was expecting.
When I opened the bubble mailer I was surprised, this board; PERFECT!
The Deck Medium kicks and concave, just how I wanted. The holes were drilled perfectly, even counter-sunk to perfection. Sanding is great, lacquer on top is pretty good, the metal bottom ply is amazing. It's smooth, not rough on the edges, couple MINOR dents, nothing to complain about.
Overall for the deck 8.5/10 (One hole is a little off, which I sort of noticed when putting on trucks, not much of a problem, easy fix)
The Kicks/Concave The kicks were EXACTLY as I was expecting them, nice shape, medium height, sanded to perfection; overall perfect. The concave is medium so it's not too much, not too little, perfect. (Little more than a tech deck, but not so much as it is a U shape)
Kicks/Concave get a 10/10
The Holes The holes were counter-sunken amazingly, they would have been perfect except one hole is off a smidge, not too much to where it effects performance, but just enough to where it's tough to get the trucks on, easily fixed. No kingpin holes which were a downer, but I don't have the problem with the kingpin, the tech deck retro collection series trucks I have; the kingpin doesn't stick out.
Not much else to say 8/10 (Because the hole was off a little and no kingpin holes, no worries)
Quality/Performance The deck has an amazing amount of pop, it's perfect! I get good height on my kickflips which are normally low, but with this board, it changed everything. The plies are perfectly sanded, and are really solid.
Performance/Quality/Pop/Plies get a 9/10
This deck, being my first wooden one ever, is perfect for me, I would like to thank Grant Harris for making such a spectacular board for such a decent price.
This deck deserves an 8.5 or 9/10; great job Grant!

and thanks for the review dude. yes and it's really good. the nose is a bit short though. i shouldn't be complaining cuz it makes my flips so much easier. a couple of things you should probably fix, but idk about what others' customs looked like, is that there is a minor radial scratch on the bottom of the deck from sanding it. like the one on the monster metal bottom. and maybe you could put an option for kingpin holes. but i had flushed wides this time. other than that they're ace |
