| Yay, just received 6 pairs (12) of gold painted regular 25mm trucks from Hong Kong. Also, off-white plastic wheels for all the trucks, those yellow bushings and enough bolts for all the trucks. I haven't counted but they also included what should be enough mounting screws for all the trucks. Edit: Now with picture... What's more awesome was they originally sent me 10 black 29mm wide trucks (and wheels and screws) when the auction I won was for 10 gold 25mm trucks. The seller blamed a co-worker sending me the wrong trucks so they sent me the correct ones after with 1 extra pair than I expected. In the end, I got 12 gold 25mm trucks, 10 black 29mm trucks, 44 off-white plastic wheels, 88 mounting screws, all for only $7.94/£4.90. I found even greater value deals around if you wanted more trucks but I thought 10 was enough for me. Now, I don't think I'll ever need to buy any trucks again. Still waiting on: BRTs from Nick Close Up G4 black skull hand deck from Manu/Close Up Soma 28mm custom graphic deck from Phil/Soma I hope they get here before Sunday, I'll be in China by then. I doubt I'll get the Soma before then but I have hope for the others. |

Haven't set any of them up yet. They look pretty good, they're like typical China/TD trucks. I'm about to set up a pair of the gold ones on my main set up. It will be interesting to see how long the paint will last from doing some grinds. |

| Xi, i'm pretty sure those china's are like the old TD golds, they wouldn't be painted but i think they're zinc (correct me if im wrong) plated or some sort of plating to simulate gold. it's like chrome plated trucks, they're actually just nickel plated or highly buffed. |

Nah, they're about in line with the hanger. Already, I think I prefer the TD trucks I had although it's probably not the fault of the trucks. With the TD trucks, they're a bit different and setting it up with the wheels made it 26mm, the same width as my bwom. These trucks are 25mm and I notice the hanger is marginally shorter than the TD ones so they're like 1mm too narrow for my deck. This is hardly noticable but it is a minor annoyance. Marginally less control of my board and railstands/primos will be a bit awkward now. I'll be testing grinds right now though. I just tried to set these up on some old TDs but the baseplates seem to be slightly too big. I could probably force them in but I'll need to find some old TD screws. The China screws are known for being a bit too thick. |

| Holy crap. I was expecting a single Close Up G4 deck from Manu and instead I got all this... I got an entire G4 setup with the deck I originally ordered. They sent the wrong deck with the complete I originally ordered so I asked for the right one. It's the Close Up G4 black skull hand deck which should be perfect for my Close Up collection. I got the dark red G4 trucks with them and the white printed wheels. Those trucks are so nice, I never thought I'd get another pair. I'm not sure whether to keep 2 sets of G4 completes, 1 with rip and 1 with grip, or to give the old deck away with the rest of the G4 complete package, or at least trade it. To be honest, I expected some extra stickers with my original order but didn't get any (apart from the sheet of 4 in the complete package). When I ordered my G1 complete, they gave me some pretty huge stickers with it which I still have. It's nice I got these 4 colourful stickers that are larger than the sheet ones. And even more, I got another G3 deck that was loose from the other packaging. Although it is unused, I think it may have been one of the decks not deemed good enough for sale or a prototype board. There appears to be some residue or uneven lacquer under the concave of the nose, some scratching and red marks on the top ply of the deck and the width of the deck nearer to the nose is 0.5mm thinner than at the tail. I notice weird things like this and this was one of the lesser problems I had with the Soma deck I got. One really interesting thing is that although my other G3 deck appears to have similar sized kicks, this one has a 17mm kick and a 20.5mm kick. If you assume the larger kick is the nose, then also the graphic is printed backwards. I actually have no idea what this o_o, I have deemed it to be a G3 because it has the same printing as the G2/G3 decks and is 5 ply like the G3 decks. Anyway, I already won this same deck from the CS3 raffle and is my current outdoor board. I don't know what to do with this board though, I might also trade or give this one away. So yeah, a huge thanks to Manu for all this. Arrived in the UK from France in 4 days. Another afternote: The TD wooden decks that are out now are horrible and I would recommend Close Up over them by a long way. I can't speak for the upcoming TD G2 wood boards but CU>TD. Edit2: Haha, the strange kicks on the "G3" mean that even the precut tapes wont fit the deck perfectly if you want to align the holes. What is this I don't even |

anyway Xi is your Soma good I have ordere one ? Well, I was going to do a detailed review on the Soma deck but I have had to hold back. I have some problems with the deck and Phil has gladly agreed to make and send me another custom graphic deck for free and I feel it would be unfair if I were to critisise the deck now. I am going to at least wait for the new deck to give it a chance. basically, the deck looks very nice but the holes let the whole thing down and I can't really skate it with trucks mounted very crooked. Kerry has had some Soma decks and he's pretty pleased with them. I have also seen some members on FFI enjoying theirs. Perhaps with inexperience, some of these earlier decks may have a problem like this. Mine is the "wolf" deck and judging by the chronology on the Soma decks flickr account, it would be the soma34, that is the 34th custom deck he has made, I think. Have a look for yourself on his decks, I love that he has made a gallery of his decks so people can judge whether they want one. The handpainted graphics is a really nice touch though. I might sell the other G4 if you're interested. Although it is "used", it is in perfect condition. It's a red version of the black deck in the picture. Key differences between that and the G3 is the graphic is printed differently, the deck is marginally wider and includes those beautiful wide trucks that also have bushings that are really easy to assemble. |

| Hmm, well at Close Up, a new G4 complete is 22 Euros, this equals £19.28.
I'll be selling the G4 red skull hand deck, with grip already set up on it. The deck and grip have no visible flaws on them at all. I'll be keeping the trucks and wheels from the old board and setting them up on this black deck. Incidentally, I've discovered the black deck has 1 hole that's off but not too much of a problem for me. The red one sets up perfectly. With the red deck, I'll sell it as a complete with the brand new G4 dark red wide trucks and branded white wheels still in their bags, I just checked the little bags and there are 10 bolts which should leave 4 spare after you use 3 on each truck. Also, 10 screws and 3 pairs of bushings although only 2 pairs of the new domed washers for the bushings. You also get that tool, I was pleasantly surprised last time as I discovered it's actually got a magnetic tip that helps you screw in the screws. I'll also give the other piece of new Close Up rip and I'll leave in the instructions and sticker sheet.
I should probably make a new post in the other board for this but yeah. Shoot me an offer? I haven't sent your wides out yet so it's possible I could post it together.
Edit: Manu has emailed me back. He just said that weird deck is a G3.
So yeah, still waiting on BRTs from Nick, Soma custom 28mm graphic deck from Phil. |
