I was thinking about purchasing a good light for filming.
Does anyone know of any good ones or recommend certain types?

I've been wanting a decent light.. anyone know any specific ones? I wanna spend 20-30 quid and want a lamp. not one of those work light things lots of people use.. they're horrible, I had one and it was like fingerboarding next to an oven >_< Took it back the next day.

I had a halogen and it wasn't nearly bright enough and didn't do much at all.. Maybe thinking about getting a higher watt halogen, or do you guys think a normal desk lamp would be better? It seems hard to find decent watt halogen bulbs : o

desk lamp from ikea was about 3 quid you can clamp it to anything or put it on a stand like a normal desk lamp, its super bright and can be used a as spot light so the whole room doesn't get lit up etc really good it does get hot but it was cheap happy

Per say you have a typical round desk lamp, you can take a sheet of tin and wrap the lamp with it at the bottom where the light shines, creating a " spotlight " effect, where you put it will allow it to range from a small spot to a big spot, if you want to cheap out, cutting a few pop cans does the trick too. i wouldn't suggest it but cardboard works to, but only if your lamp NEVER gets hot at all.

Also the halogen work lights you guys use most likely were using 500 watt bulbs inside them, you can always put in a 150 watt bulb, it will still get hot, but you won't get a tan from them either.

And Kerry, use any general desk lamp you can find for cheap and just put a 100 watt bulb in it, that should solve your problem, and if you want it brighter, there are lamps at hardware stores that are dirt cheap and can hold a 250 watt bulb for as much light as you want.

I decided to buy this lamp solely for the reason that it looks like the Pixar lamp.

After adding the eyes...

Really nice lamp, in the process of making an edit.
