would you rather have the world all grey and boring? would you rather have every person ''normal'' what did we learn from the spongbob episode? normal is boring. society need rebelious artist that want to get there name out there because when you walk by it and you notice it, and it breaks your normal cycle. fuck being normal

I think graffiti is great when done at the right place. It personally irritates me when I see kids tagging houses and other peoples property where other people then have to pay to get it cleaned up. That's my view on it. Why can't it be done on a canvas rather than a building? Like I said I know I'll change no ones opinion.

I love the look of graffiti. I would prefer the world to be decorated by proper artists, but the fact is that the people who own the trains does not like it. And they spend money on cleaning up after it. Money that society ends up paying.

There's a fine line between art and vandalism. I love seeing good graffiti, or 'street art'. When it looks like complete shit however, such as tagging or crappy art, it's horrible to look at.

hit the books, fill some pages up and get your style.
find a "chill wall" for practice, not the hottest street spot you can find.
once your comfortable at the chill wall then its time for some missions.
i would not advise otherwise cus they end in hand cuffs or a new name.
btw in this shit its not a case of if you will get arrested, its when.
about the whole graff is stupid thing, same could be said about a little wooden toys that leave eyesores on public places, trespassing, ect...
i think its classified as vandalism also?
besides, this whole debate is null because art is and always will be subjective. so... win-win?

^^ This
Some people go out to make a masterpiece and have been practicing for many years and i would call very talented artists. On the other hand some people just want to 'destroy' property with a shit tag that looks awful.
As Danny said there is a fine line between art and vandalism

^That.
'Writers' are the same guys who graffiti the front of my house. Got a lot of respect for the people who do genuine bits of art when they are INVITED to. And if we want to get not the semantics of names, anyone who 'writes' on someone else's property is a criminal. It's called vandalism. Don't care how nice it looks, if you're not invited to do it, don't.
Tell you what Matty; how about I come kick your front door in and call it a post-modern take on classical sculpture? You gonna be chuffed with that, or pissed your insurence premium went up?

Didn't know they were world wide And the people that have done graffiti on ur house are toys / people that don't follow the rules of graffiti some rules of graffiti: No tagging churches/places of worship. No tagging cars or houses. Don't tag schools. I also wouldn't do it on new builds and stuff like that i'd just do it on old run down buildings or old factory's with nothing in them

You nevereverevereverever write on houses, or places of worship, or "hot" businesses, it's just basic rules. You're more likely to see 'real' graff in the backs of alleyways, abandoned buildings, subway tunnels, etc. and imho, it's a very well needed bit of color and liveliness to spruce up these places that are otherwise dreary and boring. But, like Bants said, art is very subjective, and no two people will have the same take on art. But it's all whatevvvvs anyways because it's illegal, so chances are the people you are saying it's wrong to probably don't care because they're breaking the law anyways, lmao.
I don't even really write.

^that's fair enough. I just don't like the gung-ho attitude I've seen flying around the last page or two. The sense of entitlement to spray paint whatever you fancy and call it art. Inner city graffiti makes the place look run down and awful; I agree with the run down areas, etc.

Bad inner city graffiti is awful. Good stuff, like what we saw in Bristol, like what you see on some of the metro tunnels, is fantastic. It depends on the quality of the work and it's placement.
A lot of the graffiti in Newcastle is the frigging Figs/Figz tag, or people's names, or Charv 1 lvz Charv 2 4evaz. Which is moronic and gets on my tits.
Matty, accusing people who don't like graffiti of wanting the world to be grey or beige or whatever colour you chose is a really stupid statement. I love art. I love art that makes bold statements. I love art that breaks boundaries. I don't love art that is a waste of space, and I sure as hell don't love "art" that some fourteen year old wannabe gangsta has tagged on my front frigging door.

The thing is.. Who are you (graffiti drawers) to decide how other people's property should be decorated?
I would love if there was more room for graffiti type art in the streets, but unfortunately that's not the opinion of the people that own the buildings, trains etc. that gets painted on. So the owners spend money cleaning up after it, and i guarantee that those money does not come from their own pockets. The money is coming from their customers, cause they just make their prices higher in order to be able to pay for graffiti removal.
