they definately are. it's not just AE that can do them haha..
A ramped slowmo is when you cut the clip and each frame and the slowmo get deeper in the middle and less so at the start and the end. I did it in FCE using the tuorials below.

stevenfilms Part of the FurniturePosts Join date Age Location Companies Setup Yeah, but they aren't true ramped slow mos. If it's not made in AE, then it's called a fake ramped slow mo. Fake slow mo's aren't as smooth AE ones.

stevenfilms Part of the FurniturePosts Join date Age Location Companies Setup Final Cut Pro doesn't create it the same way as AE does though, you have to cut the clips and all that junk in FCP. With AE it's as if you're "bending" the clip, and the lower it bends, the slower it is.

It's the "ramped look of the motion that gives it the name, so if you can recreate it this way, it's still a ramped slowmo
