| 4 ply is sick as they're really light. 3 ply wouldn't be strong enough and is pointless imo |

| When I make 4 ply decks they are flexy. And i leave them in the mold for a pretty good time. I guess I have to wait 48 hours or 30 in order for it to be solid. |

| 4 ply decks are my pref. the lightness can be a huge advantge to some people becuase of how light it is. but some people like a more solid feel to there deck. all pref realy. |

| Ye xavier the deck turned out really flexy, i think i need like epoxy or something to keep it strong. |

| 5 ply cuz i like my fingers to get used to riding a solid/heavier deck. when i use a really light deck, i pop higher tricks. |

| I also prefer riding 5 ply decks as they are heavier and stronger but there are 5 ply decks out there like prowood decks which are quite light.

| I've got a Flaked and it's 4-ply. I like it a lot better than the 5-ply decks I've used. |

| It would be quite interesting to have a modern 3-ply deck. In fact, I'm pretty sure you can get a 3-ply Soma custom.
The first 2 generations of Close Up decks were 3 ply and they're really light. I haven't managed to snap or damage them at all but I prefer the newer generations so I don't use them.
My Soma decks are 4-ply too and I like the balance of lightness and strength. |

| 4 is the don, surprised more people haven't made them recently, they were all the rage a while back! Also i've had a 7ply shortwood before, so good. |

| I remember making 9 ply decks back in the day.
I also remember owning a 4 ply Prete. One of the most amazing decks ive ever used. |

| personally i think its more a gimmick then beneficial.
4 ply can work, but they are going to be more flexible than 5 ply's. (unless 2 plys are thicker)
also 3 ply decks, the woods would have to be a lot fatter.
5 ply is perfect for fingerboards IMO.
ive made 3/4/5/6/7 ply decks all different thicknesses of woods.
if you think 5 ply decks are too heavy compared to a 4 ply deck use lighter screws, trucks, wheels on your 5 ply deck.
thats only my opinion though....i remember when i used to skate, i used to prefer thin decks with lots of pop and flex rather than a solid deck, but in fingerboarding the pop comes from a solid deck, not a thin flexible deck. (IMO)
swings and roundabouts. |

| Well, it would also depend on the thickness of the plies. My 5-ply Kulture is so light it feels like a 4-ply, my 4-ply Evolve is pretty much the thickness of a normal 5-ply. They're all great though. |

| It's quite a big difference actually, i put a 4 ply in my mold and it turned out super flexy and all,but noticeably lighter. |

| If you could just make the 4 ply decks as strong as 5 ply ones, then I think you'd have the best of both worlds. |

| Yeah im thinking about mixing different glues or getting stronger glue but i dont wanna mess around with epoxy because of the allergy risks.. |

| I used to ride ShineWood deep concave decks back in the days.. They are 4 ply and pretty strong. So it is possible. |
