This is an extreme thought and although I would agree this might be a minor contribution, people will always find ways to spread information. VPNs can still bypass the Great Firewall of China. I think it comes down to commercial gains of the state. For all the sites that are blocked, either fully or partially, the Chinese have produced their own version of the blocked site. Instead of YouTube and Dailymotion, there is Tudou and Youku, instead of Facebook, there is Renren. I can't remember what the version of Twitter is called but Twitter is blocked too. |

| Double post. I don't think it's an extreme thought at all. The Chinese censor everything. When you search for Tiananmen square on a Chinese search engine all you get is big pictures of Chairman Mao and other tourist snaps. I think it's absolutely terrible the way they control the flow of information. |
