Just so you know, if you've made an account and have 0 posts, you'll have got an email saying your account is inactive. All you need to do is post once to be active again, and then your account wont be deleted. But all accounts with 0 posts will be deemed inactive and deleted in a few days time.

Thanks for your cooperation everyone happy

Good idea Kerry!

This will help clean up some usernames being used up for no reason. Or people who signed up and never bothered to post.

maybe also delete accounts that haven't posted in, say, 2-3 months?

Same with some threads to avoid intense bumping. Could delete 5+ month old threads.

What about people who re-discover fingerboarding and want to come back to the forums? I've done that on other forums and would be pissed if my account was just randomly deleted.

It isn't that difficult to make a new account. Still, before you delete their account just send an email saying that if they don't log in and post their account will be deleted. It was just a thought.

Totally disagree with deleting accounts that haven't posted in the last little bit.

There have been plenty of times where I've left forums only to come back like months later.

I'd be pissed if my whole account was gone when I came back and I had to sign up all over again and re-establish a post count and set up my avatar and stuff.

I don't think it's an issue to store an account that has tried to interact with the community. The ones with 0 posts I don't feel sorry for though.

Although I think it would be nice to send out an email if they have been inactive for a year or something.

That's a good point. Maybe not then. Still, cleaning up some of the threads might avoid bumping and hating and such. Just to clear things up.

That itself isn't a bad idea. But then we may start getting ahead of ourselves and start trying to delete the people with 5 posts... and then 10 posts? I dunno. When we start getting into posts that when I get iffy about deleting accounts.

But you guys have been doing this longer than me, it's just like my opinion man. (Movie reference, get it?)

I'm not dabbling in deleting users with any more than 0 posts for a while, for all the reasons that have been stated about people perhaps wanting to come back to their accounts at a later date.

I think for now we should just get cleaning the accounts with 0 posts done and then we can begin to worry about inactive accounts with posts.

Cleaning the forum... one step at at time!

i think everyone who wants to become a member should have to post a photo of themselves with a special unique code written on it.... At least until they can post in the forum 'proper'

would be nice to have no more Holden accounts... or people like him.

What if we have a "New Members" Section where you have to make 10 legible posts on pre-made threads to be able to post on the rest of the threads? Got the idea from SnitchSeeker (A Harry Potter forum)

I think old threads should stay. There's a lot of information in old threads, we can always just lock them.
