| This is probably going to sound really dumb but what are the point of kingpins?? I always hear people saying this deck has kingpin holes etc. but what are the kingpins for and what do they do ? |

| a kingpin is attached to the baseplate and holds the truck together so without the kingpin you wouldnt have a useable truck. |

| I think this is more of a "What are Kingpins" then what do kingpins do... I legitimately did not know up until I started longboarding the different parts of the truck so I don't see why everyone is jumping down his throat... I just think he doesn't know. This is for a reversed longboard truck but you get the idea. |

Well you've probably got some idea of what the kingpin is from the picture above although it may be difficult to see as the reversed longboard trucks are a bit different from normal skateboard trucks. The kingpin is just the pin that holds the bushings, hanger and the bolt. When people talk about kingpin holes, it's because the older Tech Deck trucks had kingpins that stuck out of the bottom of the baseplate. People had to make fingerboard decks with an extra hole for each truck to accomodate it (not a hole that went through the entire deck though). This was common in older decks but trucks with kingpins that don't stick out are common now so most deck manufacturers wont bother with these any more unless you specifically ask. |
