| If you haven't already, go check out Finn S's review, because It's most likely better than mine. https://fingerboardhq.darkbb.com/t6346-cartwheels-reviewAlthough I do ride for Cartwheels, I would like to point out that this is a none-bias point of view, and is my own opinion entirely. Simon is not paying me to say any of this... Cough. PACKAGING:The wheels were sent in a small bubble mailer, and came in a small cardboard box with the Cartwheels logo on. The wheels themselves were wrapped in 3 layers of bubble wrap for extra protection. The wheels arrived safely, no damage caused whatsoever. FIRST IMPRESSIONS:The first thing I noticed about these wheels is the size. They're a lot smaller than most fingerboard wheels on the market. You may see this as a negative, but I can tell you from my experience, It's not bad at all. The fact that the wheels are small allows you to do some tricks and grinds that may not have been possible with bulkier wheels, like certain grinds on ledges. After putting them onto my trucks, I noticed the slightest bit of resistance in the wheels. I thought about Simon's tip of spraying a bit of WD40 onto the wheels while on the axles, but after about 10 minutes of riding them, the resistance had stopped completely. Not saying it was the wheels, It could have been my axles. At first, I only tried the wheels out on my desk, which is a smooth wood surface, and the material of the wheels was perfect on the surface! Later on I tried it in my kitchen top, which is made of tile, and then on marble tiles. The wheels worked fine on all surfaces, and was as smooth as butter on each one. The only time I can feel resistance in the wheels is when you ride them across your desk really fast. COMPARED TO OTHER WHEELS ON THE MARKET:Now, you may think because the price on the wheels is very cheap compared to other wheels on the market that the quality won't be as good, that you're "getting what you're paying for", but In my case that Isn't entirely true. If I was to compare them to my last set of wheels on this setup, which were Oak V2s, I would say that the Cartwheels run smoother, work better on surfaces, and more. But I'm not here to say negative things about other companies' wheels, in terms of that it does come down to opinion. But In my opinion, they're my favourite set of wheels I own at the moment, but again I'll have to leave that up to you to decide. THEY SOUND GOOD, BUT WOULD THEY BE GOOD FOR ME?If you like fast moving, smooth, good on most surfaces (besides concrete), and you're on a low budget, I would highly recommend picking up a set. Even if you're curious, the low cost of these magnificent little gems is a steal. PM Scartledge on FFI or FBHQ to get a set, these are (in my opinion) some of the best wheels I've ever tried in my fingerboarding experience. Also, I would totally recommend picking up a set as a christmas gift for any of your fingerboarding friends! Hope this helped! - Harry. |
