| Hey guys and gals . Ok first of all a little back story about me... I used to fingerboard 1.5 years ago and was just about to get sponsored but I had a bad bmx accident (broke my wrist and three of my fingers).I found after I had healed that I could'nt do many tricks only the basic ollie and pop shovet. This made me quick due to not being bothered to learn all the tricks again.. Anyways I have now deiced to get back into the hobby but the only fingerboard parts I got left are some metal morning wood wheels and a broken berlinwood deck (the deck before they updated the design think they were 2008 version) . So now the questions ... I want to make the best fingerboard possible and I know the old style berlinwood decks suited my style great but how different are the new style ones? Also when I used to do it I would go though loads of trucks (z shred and tech deck) when I quit berlinwood just brought out their awesome looking truck but are they really as good as they seem? Thanks for reading and helping... |

| Welcome to the forum!
There is an introduction and a quick question thread... Next time you have a question I recommend you post it there instead of making a brand new thread about it.
By "make" do you mean like setup? Or are you actually talking about producing the parts yourself? |

By "make" do you mean like setup? Or are you actually talking about producing the parts yourself? Thanks dude... Yeah I couldn't find the introduction or the question section as this forum is completely different to the airsoft forum I use.. Yeah I ment setup sorry haha. The old setup I used to run was berlinwood deck (old mold) z shred trucks (wide) morning wood wheels (metal) and normal skateboard grip tape (I prefer it to that foam stuff...) But since I only got the wheels left and a broken deck I will need to get a new fingerboard... I was thinking berlinwood deck (new mold)- I would prefer the old mold as I know it suits my style berlinwood trucks -They just look amazing and I hate that all other trucks break so easy. morning wood wheels (metal)-I love them and they have been the bests wheels I have ever used... skateboard grip tape |

| Interesting. I also loved the old Berlinwood decks. I'm not sure if you had the regular (26mm) version or another version but there is a new company called Pure (run by BrianC, he is also on this forum) and he makes customs. I ordered a 26x99 and this performs exactly like my Berlinwood old mold. I would recommend buying a Pure deck if you liked the old BWs.
The new BWs are 29mm and there's now also a 32mm version. There's also a different Lowshape model but I've not tried that. As for the 29mm normal ones, the concave is about medium but it is a fun deck overall. It is essentially a completely different deck though. As for trucks, any will do the job but the BRTs come in 29mm and 32mm sizes. They're good although quite expensive for not a huge amount of improvement for the whole setup. |

| hey man welcome.
compared to some other boards, the newer berlinwoods are pretty much standard width, a little short though. the kicks are kind of oval-ish as well. those are just some observations i've made, they make good boards and have cool graphics, so if you have the dough go for it. as for trucks, if you want the best then i suggest ytrucks, or possibly blackriver trucks. i''ve had the ytrucks (which were great solid trucks) and i have a pair of brt's right now with are just a good feel as opposed to wide techdeck trucks. if you're not so down with the fancy stuff, then just go with techdeck wides, it'll save you like $80. i've had those wheels and they're so cool, they slide great and they're always smooth, i'd keep those around for sure. i'd also suggest trying out some foamtape, maybe riptape of the no comply tapes. they may seem a bit weird to get used to, but after you break in a sheet they do work nicely. i know where you're coming from though, i love griptape so much. i think there's an appropriate time for both. good luck rebuilding your setup. |

| Honestly, blackriver trucks break easier than tech deck trucks, I don't bother with them anymore. For $4 a set, why not just go with something with more customisation for 1/14th or something of the price? Also, welcome back, man |

| Like Xi said if you are a fan of skinny decks I would get a Pure from BrianC on here or talk to Mikkel (Banlyst) who runs Lovedrug. For trucks if you aren't worried about having the very best just get some Dump Trucks from Flatface... For wheels I would probably go with No Comply or Flatface wheels... But that's a matter of opinion. Honestly part of the fun in Fingerboarding is trying new stuff... So if you know what you like keep a set of that but it's not bad to try and find new stuff, who knows maybe you will really like bearing wheels? Or maybe the foam tape you tried was crappy? I've tried tons of foam tape I don't like... It's all personal preference! That being said a lot of us are willing to help out so if you have any questions about the quality of any products you want to buy feel free to drop a post in the Quick Questions thread or ask us in the chat. And just remember... don't worry about swag, sponsors or any of that shit. Fingerboarding is all about having fun and if you are doing for any other reason than that (or find yourself doing it for other reasons in the future) you need to remind yourself that it's just for fun. |

| Thanks guys for all the help and making me feel so welcome...
The wheels I have do have bearings and I also have some old flatface wheels think they are G6.I did have some z shred wheels but their wheels are just junk..
Deck wise .. After looking at my deck it was 28 mms wide so Max you are right I do prefer slimmer deck.I will be ordering a pure deck asap.
When I was very into it I tired almost ever deck out there. I even got a wooden tech deck which was terrible haha...It took me a good 5 months to get the set up which I liked..
Ok truck wise I was thinking about black river trucks but as someone has said on here they break...or i might get ytrucks but on ebay I can get 20 trucks for £15 which I will be getting that..

| from what i remember the g6 wheels are a great shape and stay pretty smooth with wear. if they still roll good then give em a shot!
i have broken a blackriver truck hangar, however i had it in a vice and was trying to get a modded axle out, so it was in no way a normal circumstance haha. i think if you're just doing the normal routine they will hold up fine. |

| Glad we make you feel welcome I'll say it again, don't bother with blackriver trucks, the baseplates strip, only certain wheels can be used on them, and everything goes wrong, haha. For the love of god USE WIDES <3 |

| I think I will stick with tech deck wides and z shread wides like I used to... I'm going to get some ytrucks just to try them out as well . EDIT: Also if my memory is correct my G6 wheels broke .. The bit of plastic holding the bearings in worn down.. Thats why I got morningwood metal wheels (with bearings) they are very smooth wheels and are very strong.. |

| Hey guys I have decided what decks I'm getting. I am going to get a yellowwood deck , berlinwood deck and a pure deck. Trucks wise I am going to get ytrucks and tech deck wides. And wheels I'm going to stick with mt morningwood wheels but I am also going to get some Oak RV wheels. Also if any event does spring up in the london area I will most probably be going... |

| If you prefer berlinwoods, you may not like yellowoods, ill warn you that. Different styles on each deck definitely, but if you are doing it to experiment than it makes sense. Also LowPro decks are always a good bet. very similar to BW. If you do decide to venture for other wheels I would suggest something from the new 2012 Substance line, or THCb's.
Welcome! |

| ^ Yeah, this guys speaks the truth. Yellowoods and berlinwoods are completely different styles of decks. Oaks are completely different to morning woods etc etc. But yellowoods, oaks and trucks are the best combination around. Have fun! Yellowoods, are much longer than berlinwoods, just pointing that out Both amazing decks. Hope you like them, because from my experiences i loved them! |
