the belt is good for sanding straight edges and some like it for rounding...(the edge is great)
and the disk is used for rounding....

| When I first started making decks I used a belt and disk sander I used the disk for even straight edges and the curve of the belt to shape the kicks it works fantastic until the belt broke so now I use a skill belt sander which is just as good and it's smalle |

| I have a problem with the belt sander i use now. It burns the wood.
Is that because it runs too fast? or because the belt is too rough? |

| ^Its because the grit isn't high enough. I had an old belt sander and the grit was wasted and it would burn the wood, so i changed the belt and it wouldn't burn my woood any more (tee-he) |

| It will work fine. I spent 100-something dollars on mine and has worked well for 4 years. I have sanded wood, steel, and stainless steel pipe. Its the most handy tool i have. |
