People fingerboard and make videos only to become famous and they dont give back to the community :/

When I first opened Reks back in 2008 it was so much different. Decks were not that good, only Flatface was the major wheel company, and it was only Rip and FBS. Take a look at the scene in 2012.... Decks are milled to perfection, multiple wheel companies, and literally every company has some form of fingerboard tape.

There are definitely significant disadvantages... While the scene is growing, more people outside of the world of fingerboarding are looking at it and notice that there is an area of profit if they open a business. Therefore, these people research into "China" products, buy them, and offer to them to the community. Some of the fingerboards don't know better, especially the newer ones, and they purchase from these companies. These companies are the ones that are hurting the actual "scene", or whatever you want to call it.

In my opinion, that's the only disadvantage. People are just getting into fingerboarding strictly to make an extra buck. Back in the day, everyone was in it FOR fingerboarding.

I understand what you guys mean by "china" companies ruining things. But i dont think companies like 4 corners are as "evil" as they are made out to be. I have been playing with tech decks for years and finally decided to move up to something nicer. I decided to go with a $20 four corner board because i couldnt justify spending close to 100 dollars on a fingerboard. Now that i have seen how much better wood boards are, i am very excited to order a nice handmade board from a core company.

Why iz we gotta be all negative man? Stick with the positive. All the stuff your noticing now was still there but nobody had figured it out for the most part. BE POSITIVE! How can we change things for the GOOD in fingerboarding. Just stick with the companies you know will give back and just continue put a positive name on fingerboarding. Be yourself and have fun. It is what got us into it in the first place.

The thing is, that if you buy a 4corner setup from the factory, and not from the 4corner guy it will only cost you $2.27 pr. setup. The thing is that you will have to buy a few hundred of these, but it still doesnt justify the price.

I would much rather see more physical skateshops selling it. Both fingerboarding and skateboarding should be kept in the scene. People who sells skateboards and fingerboards should be skateboarding and fingerboarding them self.

Yeah haha I wish my local Eastern Boarder would dist some blackriver ramps..... but sadly it shall never be..

I'd like to see Skateboard shops should involve Fingerboarding into there.

Distributing products like Blackriver Ramps, to get people into the sport.

I'm now fingerboarding for about 12-13 years and we've already started moaning about the scene in 2006, lol. Fingerboarding changes all the time. It's getting bigger and bigger and bigger... not right now. It's a slow process from the beginning in 1999 (for me) or even earlier for you.

Especially over the last two years I often didn't feel comfortable with the scene. I thought a lot about the good old times when there were just 64 riders on fast fingers and we all know each other. I was disappointed when I went to Fast Fingers in 2008 and there were 'millions' of unknown guys who didn´t speak with you and couldn't even say hello... Someone said, fingerboarding lost its soul by getting famous.

Today after thinking a lot about that stuff I realized that I lost a lot of good time by being out of humor. Now I know that its just lost time to cry about the past. You can't change it.

My view today: I had the luck to start and live fingerboarding from day one. I have a lot of good memories to the good old times. I met a lot of great people who are now my best friends. Today everything is a little bigger and perhaps there are thousands of fingerboarders I will never speak to. But they all live fingerboarding and when I have the possibility to meet them I will take this chance. Due to all these fingerboarders we now have the possibilities to get high tech setups, to choose between dozens of great brands, to read a professional magazine and to enjoy Fingerboarding!

I think that fbing getting bigger has the same pros and cons as every thing does.as an older aged fingerboarder 30years old I appriciate more companies being available as I don't always have the cash to spend on a berlinwood,I have a wife 2 kids and myself to support,but I love fbing, so if I have to buy a cheaper no name brand deck,or wheels to keep doing what I love then so be it cause my family,buisness,and house payment are going to come first of course. Don't get me wrong I love it when I can throw down some money on a prete or bw or whatever,but it is kinda like medicine when u can't afford namebrand u get generic and itusually ain't that bad. So to me I think the scene getting bigger is not that big of a deal, I love and breathe fbing so much its caused fights between me and the wife,lol when I do make big purchase or spend all day in the shop workin on my park. Point is if you are having fun forget the other shit there is good and bad in evrything and as shitty as it sounds ain't much that can be done about it. Just dowhat u love buy and support what u want and don't worry about tom and dick gettin something u think is crap. One thing I don't like is all the china stuff but here in america ain't much that don't come from there these days and it sux. But to all the younger kids just have fun and appriciate the things that make u happy.sorry for the long rant.
