| Harry, can I use the songs in my videos? Also, the effect in Paul, was that on purpose? |

| Yeah the effect on 'Paul' is on purpose... It appears on 'Night Owl' to. It's to do with a little... style I'm going for.
Yeah I've been playing guitar for over 10 years, drums for 7, etc.
It's only recently I actually got into music production. And yeah, you can use my music, It's under Creative Commons - you'll have to give me attribution though, as in, say that I did the music... Part of the copyright stuff.
Thanks! |

| There is some very good ideas! I like the vibe.
Not a big fan of the guitar sound tho. What do you use to record? |

| 'Paul' samples were recorded with a Turtle Beach headset right in front of the amp. All other tracks were recorded at Futureworks Music Studio, in Manchester. My brother goes to the University there, so we got free studio time. The tracks were recorded over two days, and all editing was done on Fruity Loops Studio 10. For electric guitar recording, we used 2 room mics a metre away from each other, a meter away from the amp itself. We had 2 dynamic mics right in front of the amp, and we had one shure mic in front of the neck. Sorry to dissapoint you if you wanted to record at home! But you're looking at about £70 for a room mic, which will record electric guitar amps fine. Or you could get a dynamic mic, for about the same price, which I highly recommend if you're just recording guitar - or anything really. One of them should do you fine for recording anything, even vocals (but It's not HIGHLY recommended...). If you need to Alex, you can always come down with us next time we're heading to the studio, if you need anything recorded! We get free studio time, just have to book it. |

| Looks pretty good. There is just something about the guitar sound on the first tracks that i dont like.. It might just be me tho. My advice for a homerecording of something like this is to get a decent audio interface and an LD Systems DI box. http://soundcloud.com/psykomikkel/mixdowntilbommThis is recorded directly from my guitar through the DI box, through the audio interface and into cubase. No plugins on yet. When i record through my amp i use a chinese copy of the Shure SM57, just directly at the speaker. The mic is bought from Thomann.de |

| Yeah dude, sounds really nice!
It's probably the effects added, you know how we experimentalers are with reeverb and what not...
Me and my bro are looking into mics for home recording at the moment (my bro being a music producer / composer / pianist, all that stuff), and systems and what not...
Thanks for the tip. |
