Basically times are hard for me living here in Vegas mainly because our whole city's economy is based on tourism and for the past year + it's been shit. I don't think I'll be able to find a job in time so I thought I'd ask my fellow fingerboarders to help me out a little. Right now I'm looking at a 360 dollar trip minimum. 310 for airfare and 50 for food/gas/whatever for a weekend (friday-sunday). If I can get that I'll be happy.

I've already started a thread on here and FFI in the sales/transactions areas where I am selling 4 decks that I don't need anymore.

I'm probably gonna be working with my dad to raise a bit of money plus my mom will see what she can scrounge up to lend me. Other than that, I am on my own on this one. I am saving all the money I'm going to be making from either selling stuff or commissions for my art. Whatever I can do to save I'm doing.

If you guys could help me out a bit that'd be great and I'd be soo appreciative. I love fingerboarding and all it's given me and I hope to give the same back to the people I call fellow fingerboarders.

If at ever a person needed to be a complete asshole to someone, it NEEDS to happen right after saying something like that. Vegas isnt some place you can just start working at a casino or something. Whats more, EVERYONE AND THEIR MOM is doing the exact same thing. What says Jacob hasnt tried to get work but the jobs are filled? Not to mention if the tourism is bad, do you REALLY think someone is going to hire another employee that they cant afford to have on the pay-roll?

I didnt see anyone rip on Chris Kraft when they did a support thing for him. Or any other person for that matter. When Jacob does it, living in a place based on people who dont live in your state to come, spend money they dont have because TIMES ARE HARD FOR EVERYONE, he gets shit for it.

Getting a job isnt just walking into a shop, asking to work and start that very minute. Have some damn consideration for once in your life. Or dont even comment unless you dont have something worth contributing in a positive way. You dont HAVE to pitch in, but you also dont HAVE to be a douche about it.

times are hard world wide, vegas is not the only place strugglin due to lack of tourism.. a forum is not a place you come on and beg.

Getting a job IS walking into every single shop that you can possibly get to and saying you will do anything. You'll start from the bottom. Someone will eventually see you tenacity, whether it takes a day a week, or a couple of months. Constant enquiries will always yield results. If that's impossible, then go back to college... get some qaulifications, just DONT sit on your arse, and come onto a fb forum your addicted to, begging for money. If you've not worked any of your adult life... that's pretty pathetic. It shows a complete lack of ambition. Get self respect and earn some money.

I've given Jacob more constructive advice before (on FFi) the last time he begged for money. The reason i flew slightly off the handle this time, is because he's only on this forum specifically to ask for money from it's members. Don't have a go at me Deshawn... I don't say things needlessly.

I think Simon does have a point as nothing is ever free not even air.
A job doesn't have to be something you like as he said offer to do anything, besides it a job it doesn't have to be fun think of the people who have to make sure your poo ends up in the right place or the people who have to work for 10 cents an hour in china just to get some rice for dinner even tho it probably grows everywhere there.
A job is a job, if it was meant to be fun it wouldn't be a job, also I live one state away from this competition and I won't be able to go because of the cost, even tho it would only be like $150 for me to go I'm not begging

I believe i also agreed with you, twice, even on FFI that Jacob's way of doing this was poor. Dont think you got that part. A priviledge? Sounds hella elite when you put it like that. Ok I'll leave it. And by priviledge, I mean it in the purest sense of the word. Travelling across the country/state on a day trip and entering a fb contest is a treat! You get earn treats by working hard. If people pay his way to a contest, then he'll have learnt nothing, apart from that you can get what you want by relying on the good will and genourosity of others.

Thats fair. Honestly, it is.

I do think that as fingerboarders, we ALL need to experience at least one event in our lives. We should try a bit to get each other out to these things. One dollar goes a long way. Just saying. No one HAS to, or SHOULD, only if they WANT to do so.

I would suggest, to Jacob, that if he does a thing like this.. that hes willing to give something to whomever donates. A sale would be much better, with a cause. He did say he would sell things, so hes not completely begging. I think we all should take that part of his post into consideration.

I agree with both if you guys, Deshawn and Simon. I do feel that this trip is a privilege and I do feel that it is my responsibility to make MOST of the money for said trip. As of TODAY though I am working feverishly to make a resume so that when I go to this Sushi grill/bar I have something to show them.

Make no mistake I am looking for jobs I am putting my self out there. In my post I clarified that by saying that "I don't think I'll get one in time". I would also like to clarify two other things. 1 I have been here longer than this username. I was also here for about a year under TributeDecks. I do get your point that I haven't been active in this forum and that's justified, but to clarify the other part of that I am not "begging" for money. I am asking people to help out a fellow fingerboarder just like CRK and others have done.

Another part of getting a job in this town is having the proper cards/documentation to work in wherever place you are gonna be. For instance to work at McDonalds or any other place where food is prepared/served, you need a health card. It's literally a little card that you pay 50 bucks for that says you're legally up to date on your shots and are able to prepare food.
For security guards you need a PLIB card. I don't even know why that is but you need it. Even if you're a bouncer you need that card.

Lastly to explain my situation with my parents. They don't live together, my mom is in TX and my dad and bro are here. My dad can barely pay the bills with his own pest control business and the only money he's giving me is however much change he can save up until the trip. My mom cleans out college dorm rooms and doesn't make that much; she lives with her girlfriend (yes shes a lesbian) that's a teacher. She'll be doing the same thing with change. So in reality ITS ALL ON ME to make the 360 bucks that I'll need.

Also I don't want to broadcast all the times I've almost literally given away my shit out of the goodness of my heart just so others can be happy, but if that's what will make you see that I'm a good guy that isn't just a lazy asshole "begging for money" than I will. Ask Jacob Sahagun about the Tribute setup I sent him. Ask Alex Hancak how I'm having him pay for shipping for a free setup. Back when I wrote for FBWeekly I had made a post called Fingerboard Love where I detailed how I had made friends with all the people at my skatepark and how there were these 2 kids that really wanted to get into fingerboarding and how I gave them a woodguest and G12 wide premium with a sheet of tape just so they could learn.

Someone should do a a series of decks dedicated to this type of a cause. Kind of like what FlatFace did. Overpriced decks but part of the donation went to something good. Not to like a charity but this would be my "charity".

They have licenses for a reason, I sure as hell wouldn't want someone with a disease or un-hygenic preparing my food. Surely there is work in Vegas, and of course they're going to hire someone who has qualifications, so gather a little bit of money, try get a license or whatever you think you need to get a job, and get out there and look harder. You've got a lot of reasons to complain, so why not take your problems from the internet and try and solve them in real life?

UPDATE: The graphic deal I have with Justin nets me 140 for the 10 decks I'm doing. Bobby Alexander, the Owner of 4CFingerboards, wants me to do some graphics for him too. He contacted me after he saw the Collab preview thread. That deal nets me 160 which will mean I'm only 60 bucks off of my trip money baseline. WOO
