| So lately I've been into the whole religion and universe thing but I do know that as a fingerboarding community we don't try to get involved with that. So really I wanted to go to a group of people who would be open minded and would try to see where I am coming from. Since all of the people I am surrounded with are envoleped in this conspiracy I don't think I would have gotten any rational answers except "You just gotta believe, faith, beleive the big man in the sky he's got a plan for you". Which honestly is not much fact only foolishness. So I thought I might bring my thinking's toward higher intellects, you guys. The people I Actually respect. So tell me, do I at least have a good debate going on. This is the whole conversation no cut outs nothing. I really wish I could have said more, honestly because I have so much more to say about this. ________________________________________________________________________________________ MY thoughts. I think religions is.... I'm not too sure of the word really. It's a Joke. I mean there are so many things people don't think about Logically as a Smart person. People like to belong to a group and some groups divide creating other religions. There is no proof Jesus existed, apparently after he rose from the dead he ascended into heaven, body and everything. To me that is strange. Of course, don't leave evidence ha. Another thing I was getting at was the Ark. How did Noah build it and fill all the animals of every species in there. How did he make it airtight, waterproof, nonetheless precision cut the wood and in curves as-well to make a rounded shape to float? Where'd the food come from? And where is this ark? All I see is that the Bible is an incentive tool to be good and obey the rules. A tool used to control a society and prevent chaos. If you do bad things you go to the bad place, and if you do good you are rewarded greatly so be good! Even though when you die you can't go back and tell people it was a lie. It's the perfect con. I mean seriously. Think about, as a logical thinking person. Too many things connect. Now for something Logical I saw on the internet. How did the kangaroos get to Australia? There has to have been plate tectonic movement in thousands of years for them to end up there. We all know they can't swim across an ocean to get to the island. So I'm asking. Are there any questions you guys have unanswered because at Youthgroup in one week we are doing a questionnaire for a while and I want to ask serious questions for him and really see his "opinion." I am a very open minded individual. Although, I have experienced way to many things to think that the devil and god are so real. I'm a bit confused because there are so many flaws on both ends. NOTE: I don't want this to turn into an argument. Make it clean, not mean. We're all fingerboarders and I just wanna know what you guys think. No bashing another's opinion. :?: |

| I do not believe in god, but i do not deny his existance. But i am a bit against organized religion. To me religion is a personal thing and not something two people should agree 100% on.
I think the old testament is basically fairy tales used to guide people into a good way of living. So there was no garden of eden, no Noah etc.

See that's where I 100% feel you Mikkel. My almost exact thoughts. So if the old test was fabricated. What else in the bible was? |

| God is the mysterious force of what influences people to do certain things.
We know him as God, Allah, Jehovah, Buddha, etc....
All religions are pretty similar if you look into them. They have been translated, misconstrued, tampered with through time.
God is just a name, just like how a dog is a dog. If someone called it a cat a long time ago...we would know dogs as cats. Same with pudding...it could be a derogatory term for an immigrant for all we know, but we came to know it as a sweet, gloopy desert.
Religion was put into place to control peoples ways of thinking. It's an elaborate story that was most likely based on real people, but things were added for effect (based on a true story style movies)
When someone wanted something back in the day and someone wouldn't give it to them, they took it. Whether its raping, killing, stealing, whatever..... Someone constructed an elaborate story to scare people into doing the right thing.
Today, we have the police. You can also compare laws to religion, history just repeats itself in different ways.
I call him God, I was raised catholic, changed my views, but that's still what I know the "force" of life as. |

| The new testament was written by "prophets". It is basically their beliefs put into words. That is why the bible sometimes contradict itself. Even the prophets interpreted the world differently.
But the bible has been edited. Books have been taken out by different organisations and maybe some parts have been rewritten. No one knows. One thing is sure. Man's desire for money and power have turned the human beings into corrupt creatures. Just look at how every action (generalizing) taken to day is ruled by money somehow. |

| you bring up very good points. i dont believe everything in the bible. but im sure theres a God of some sort.
i thought of this recently, maybe you could ask them for me? the bible claims we have a predettermined life. that every day is planned out for us before we begin to breathe. if God knew that we would be a failed species why would he create us? why would he bother if he was absolutely 100 percent sure we would fail him. why wouldnt he then make a perfect species such as the Tiger or Turtle, or any other animal able to make decisions, speak, and keep him comfort. because again according to the bible the animals of the Garden of Eden were perfect and non violent.
why also would he let Satan exist if he knew he would fail him, and murder his creations, decieve his creations, etc.
i spent all of 2010 trying to change my life to be more religious. it was just failure after failure trying to represent what the bible wanted me to be. i was constantly self conscious and critical of my every action. the minute i stopped trying to be what i wasnt, i was happy and grateful for everyhting. I found that trying to be religious and "perfect" was only bringing down my own morale.
idk, my basic thoughts on religion. I think its a very cult based thing also. i mean, so many wars have started because of differences in beliefs, its so ridiculous.
after these trying years for me, i have come to one final conclusion. that is- Treat others with kindess and happiness no matter their appearance or background. Do this, and youll be fine, whether there is or isnt a Heaven. |

| I'm too lazy to read through everyone's posts, cause theyre huge. Basically, with all due respect, I think religion is bullshit, people should believe what they want to believe, not something that's been droned into their heads since birth.
I see that people feel that god is real, and that's fine, people should believe what they want, but if you look at it logically, theres more proof of the Big Bang than there is of someone creating the earth in 7 days. Also, if Adam and Eve were to be true, there'd be a hell of a lot of incest, and where would different nationalities come into it? |

| I DO NOT believe in god. HOWEVER, I do believe that there is some unseen force guiding us. I think that collective human consciousness guides us to do the right things, however as to the afterlife, ive got no thought on that. |

| I don't call myself a real believer. But I do think there is some type of god-like figure up there guiding us through life. But religion I'm not very interested in and I never liked Church a lot. Plus I always question myself about God. |

| Guys I am against organized religion and Mikkel's view on religion pretty much exactly reflect how I feel.
I grew up going to Catholic Schools and was baptised and confirmed as a Roman Catholic.
You guys are young but will figure out soon enough that trying to rationalize anything with bible humpers is a waste of time... They have no real reason behind anything they argue and fall prey to not actually providing anything other than what they think God might feel about certain situations.
In all honesty I think it's best intelligent people like ourselves keep these discussions among ourselves instead of scaring retarded people who's corrupted belief systems have been fucking everyone over since the dawn of time.
If there is a God he'd be more disgusted by the number of people killed in his name than anything else.
Also religion is a shitstorm topic any place you go... I try to avoid talking about it everywhere because spirituality is so unique for people... It's a very personal topic and I don't think any two people can truly feel the same way about spirituality. |

| This is just my opinion, but..
Religion is there for people who are afraid to question, and are scared of how minute they are in contrast to what's assumed as an infinite universe. We need a steady balance of people in the world who rely on and who don't rely on religion. If everyone came to the conclusion that god isn't real, then what would the world do? Religion sounds stupid to us because most of us haven't been a part of it, or haven't been raised with it. To religious people, it's all they know, what they've believed and stood by all their lives.
Let believers be believers. After all, believing is 'Accepting something as true/false' |
