| Well, I will soon be making decks, and I was wondering if 4 ply decks were better or worse then 5 plys, and I wanted to know the differences?
thanks

| 4 plys deck are thin and you can use only 2 diffrent kind of venners.
eg: maple , red , maple , red |

| ^don't know what you're on about there.. you can use 4 different veneers if you want? O_o 4 plys are thinner, but lighter, and so floatier on tricks. 5 plys are thicker, thus have more pop, but are heavier. Its all preference, and I think they're both fantastic to use |

| by floatier i think he means they sort of stay on your fingers longer.
I like my 4 ply deck because its so light and super thin. but with that, you also sacrifice strength. if you dont use the right glue, itll feel pretty fragile. i prefer 5 plies only for their pop and their solidity. |

| They stay in the air longer because they are lighter. |

| I'm experimenting with 4ply's at the moment. I used to ride ShineWoods, which were 4ply decks, until i started making my own. I've made myself a 4ply now, but i dont really like it. It is way too light for me. I'm trying to do the kicks differently now. |

| I love 4 ply decks. I make 4,5, and 6 ply decks, but I have always been a fan of 4 ply decks. They are just so nice to use. |

| I started on heavy zshred board and now use a maze M5 which is 5 ply I believe but it is amazing,my other main setup at the moment is a hesh deck and I like it as well but never looked at plys,Think I will right now  it also depends on what thickness of veneer you are using as well as far as weight goes,That was the problem with the zshred just to thick and bulky. |

| 5 Ply characteristics: - Heavier, requiring more effort to flip tricks and get air - Increased control do to added weight - Slower flips - Tighter and more stable pop - stronger, completely stiff
4 Ply: - More pop, but less stable - Decreased weight allows for easier flipping speed - requires better control - slightly flexible, weaker when heavy pressure is applied.
I personally enjoy all the 4 plies ive owned more than the 5 plies, but each of them require different things from the rider, and each suits different people. |

| I have a 4 ply Homewood and an Evolve. They are just as thick as 5 ply decks. They also have the most pop I've ever felt out of any deck I've used. I've had 5 ply's that have felt like mush, I've had 4 ply's that feel heavier than 5 ply...my point?
There are different variables, the glue, veneer thickness, veneer, mold pressure, clear coat... I don't think it's right to say 4 ply decks are like this.....or 5 ply decks are like that, just try it out! |

| ^exactly!
I think Justin and Jader use something that is slightly thicker than 1/64" so the decks come out thicker.
Also, never forget to cross ply, I think that is a given anymore but that will definitely affect the pop |

| 4 ply is good, but I personally prefer 5 ply ( I ride 4 ply though XD ) 5 ply: MORE POP Doesn't stay in the air as long
4 ply: Lighter, making them go higher. Although 5 plys have more pop, this makes up for it. Stays in the air longer. |
